GD handhold - late diagnosis

Hi all,
I am 37 weeks pregnant and just got the call today that I have gestational diabetes. I was tested in April and may which were negative, but due to raised amniotic fluid was tested again 25th June which I just got the results for. They have told me to modify my diet etc. I have also been invited to a clinic to go and get my blood sugar monitor but that isn’t until 7th July (which seems like ages to wait?). I am due 18th July so it all just seems a bit too little too late.

Has anyone else been diagnosed this late in pregnancy? I am now a nervous wreck hoping that baby will be ok. I feel awful that this diagnosis has come so late.
Any experiences at all would be helpful to hear. It is just a lot of uncertainty only a few weeks before the big day. Thank you x

Please try not to worry - I was diagnosed around 30 weeks last time around and diet controlled until birth - you’re almost there and then can not worry about it. I would recommend the Facebook group gestationaldiabetes UK it has all sorts of tips and everyone there is very supportive
