Hi @Laurend0603
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I am due to have my 12 week scan next week and am looking forward to it.
I have already had 3 scans (5w, 7w and 10w) - all were to rule out complications.
At 5w, I saw nothing but the pregnancy sac, at 7w, I saw baby and heartbeat, although at 7w baby didn't look much like a baby and no movement was detected (probably too early on in the pregnancy at this stage).
At 10w, baby was laying with her back to us so all we saw was a tiny spine and the back of her head. No movement was detected, but we heard the heartbeat. The sonographer did some manoeuvring with the ultrasound wand and this seemed to "wake baby up" as she eventually turned onto her back so we got a nice side view of her. A little later on in the scan she moved her little arms and legs a bit.
I think there's a lot to be said for the skill of the sonographer. Our last scan, which was the 10w one was a private scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre. The appointment was longer than I expected, which was great and she made a great deal of effort to encourage baby to change positions.
Your 12 week scan is to check for issues - I'm sure, if the sonographer suspected any issues, they will have raised them.
I also think we are all different and so are our babies. They have periods of activity along with periods of rest. Your baby was probably resting or just not feeling very active at that particular moment.
I wouldn't worry. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to base your pregnancy experience on any one elses. We are all different.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x
