Hi all,

Has anyone had a low lying placenta that successfully moved up? It was low at 21 weeks and its still low at 28 weeks. Just wondered if anyone has info on this - thanks 😁

I have. Had low lying at 20 weeks so was booked a scan at 32 weeks to see if it had moved. It had and now at 36 weeks it's right at the top of my uterus instead of low.

Proudpeacock · 26/06/2020 16:53

Mine didn't. Had a plannedsection at 39+1 but no bleeding or problems prior to that.

Mummyspider27 · 26/06/2020 17:09

No bleeding or discomfort, section at 37+5 booked. Mine is also anterior (at the front) so slightly higher risk.
I have been well monitored though xx

Michelle292 · 26/06/2020 17:13

Really, thanks for the info its interesting to see other stories. If it has not risen by 32 weeks is that almost a guaranteed section? Or do they give it another chance to move? As my 28 week scan it was still low x

Mine moved way out of the way by 32 weeks 😊

Mummyspider27 · 26/06/2020 18:01

My last scan was at 36 weeks, so they will scan again after 32 if needed xx

SummerSazz · 26/06/2020 18:08

Mine didn't move and I had a bleed at 31 weeks (hospital for a week) and another at 36 weeks and c-section performed. I was on steroids from the first bleed to help DD's lungs. She was born T 36 weeks and no medical support needed other than a hot cot. She did then go on to get jaundice.

After the 1st bleed they wanted to keep me in hospital but let me home if I had someone with me at all times and didn't go any further from the hospital.

Happy to answer any Q's

SummerSazz · 26/06/2020 18:09

I think80-90% do move though!

Avearage · 26/06/2020 19:34

I'm also in same position, consultant told me as its complete covering the exit it's unlikely to move.... Baby is also breech at the moment but that could change however most likely breech because of placenta covering it gives most room.

I do feel much more uncomfortable than I have in any other pregnancy more pressure down there than I can ever remember!!
I've another scan at 32 where she feels decision will be made for section, just planning to have things ready sooner than I would incase I bleed etc etc

Sunsage · 26/06/2020 19:50

Jumping on this thread too! Low lying at 20 weeks, they didn't go into anymore detail then. Now 29 weeks and have my scan in 4 weeks time to check if it has moved.

No bleeding either, but definitely feeling alot of low pressure. This is my first pregnancy so maybe that's normal?

SummerSazz · 26/06/2020 19:57

I didn't have any low pressure (Grade 4, full covering). My discomfort was up under my ribs as dd was being forced upwards. She ended up as a forceps CS as she was so high!

Michelle292 · 26/06/2020 19:59

Thanks ladies... yes i have the exact same issue with being a little bit comfortable the second i stand up its like something is pressing down so a lot of peeing and pressure (1st pregnancy) I was hopeful it would have moved by the 28weeks scan and theres still time i guess but either way it has to get out 😂X

That's good to know Summer! And yes Michelle so true it'll come out one way or another!! Just would be nice to know 😂

Keep us posted! I'm always intrigued about placentas moving and when, never ever thought I'd say those words 😂

LizzyAnna99 · 27/06/2020 02:27

I’m the exact same as @erised24 and the exact same gestation Grin

MamaBearThius · 27/06/2020 03:54

I was diagnosed with full Previa at 20 weeks, had a big bleed at 26 weeks with contractions and she was close to being delivered! Mine didn't move at all and I spent so long worrying (I have a post on here with a lot of advice on)
But just had my section 3 weeks ago at 39 weeks which went beautifully. Lost 480ml of blood which I'm told is low. Placenta was absolutely huge apparently!
@Mummyspider27 your section is so close now!

Mummyspider27 · 27/06/2020 05:16

@MamaBearThius I know!! 3 days to go!! Ahh! How are you? X

Apsh2020 · 27/06/2020 12:22

When you say low pressure- I sometimes feel bruised down there like I've been riding a bike, I don't remember that feeling with my first pregnancy and this time my placenta is fully covering the exit- that was the latest at 28 week scan and I'm 30 weeks now. Got other scan too but hoping it's still in the way so I can have a c section

Avearage · 27/06/2020 14:03

Out of curiosity do ppl know what they are having? ... I've been told it's more common in boys and we are having a boy x

Avearage · 27/06/2020 14:06

@SummerSazz did you loose alot of blood with section?

Mummyspider27 · 27/06/2020 15:12

Boy also! X

SummerSazz · 27/06/2020 15:53

Girl!!!!

@Avearage, no the section was fine. I did lose a fair amount of blood with the 2 bleeds but never enough for any transfusion requirement. They did cross match bloods weekly from 31 weeks (after 1st bleed) in case I needed any.
