So anxious here I made myself 7 weeks pg 3 weeks ago had early scan they said I was much earlier as could only see yolksac and sac. Recalculated my dates and Went back again last night thinking I am 8 weeks and they have still said I'm earlier. Can see fetal pole now and looks like a tiny jelly baby but couldn't be 100% sure of heartbeat although she said she thought she seen a flicker. I'm so confused and been feeling so sick for 2 weeks which has now suddenly stopped. I just wish I waited till my dating scan as these scans were supposed to reassure me and have just made me more anxious 😔

Sorry you're going through this OP. Did they say how much earlier they think you are based on last nights scan?
Was this an NHS scan?

Hey
I had an early scan at 6/7 weeks which dated me 8 days earlier than I was sure I was! It was very stressful as I’ve been panicking about the baby being small.. however, had the 12 week scan this week and I’m back up to exactly where I thought I would be (well our by one day). I asked about it and they said that the 12 week scan is the most accurate and not to worry about the early scan size.
Hope that helps 💕

Not an NHS scan I've paid private both scans now and no further forward. Been crying all night just need to try and calm down what will be will be but it's just annoying that these scans have made me worse and cost a lot of money.
Just so confused with dates etc. Could it be possible the test was just detected really early? This is my 3rd pregnancy.

Was the growth between the first and second scan proportionate? How far would you have been when you got your BFP?

I was 11 days behind at my early scan, 2 weeks later I went for a rescan and baby had grown by 2 weeks so was spot on.
I obviously just ovulated late that month.

STCMB · 26/06/2020 11:55

Yeh the growth is just about accurate. Just dates don't add up for me as I had 1st positive test 5 weeks ago today. So I think I have to be further than 6/7 weeks unless detected very early with test. Who knows. I feel like I've been 6/7 weeks pregnant for a month 😔

So there’s a reason they don’t give you a dating scan until 12 weeks... because dating a pregnancy before this isn’t accurate. Early scans can be dated as much as 2 weeks out. Baby is so so tiny that it’s simply just difficult to get an accurate measurement. Try not to worry. If normal growth has been seen since your first scan and next, then I’m sure everything will be fine. Many midwives will still take you on your last period date at booking in, even if you’ve had an early scan and dates haven’t matched up. Do you have a date through for your NHS dating scan?

STCMB · 26/06/2020 12:44

Yes my dating scan the 13th July so just over 2 weeks I was just really anxious and thought I would have the scan to confirm everything's where it should be. Which it kind of has just dates erratic. Thank you everyone for your reassurance put my mind at ease for now x

Ah that’s not long to wait then. I opted not to book a private scan for this exact reason! I think sometimes it can cause more worries that it can settle them. All the best with your 12 week scan x
