12 weeks scan - 3 weeks early!?

Hi all,

I'm 24yo and a new mum to be! Very excited!
We had what we thought was going to be the 12 weeks scan yesterday - but turns out they think that I am only 9 weeks pregnant - I'm so confused by this as I'd worked out the dates from my last period and when we 'did the deed' and I was sure I was 12 weeks! Has anyone else had this experience?

On a plus note they said the heartbeat was perfect and baby was happily dancing on the screen for me - was amazing to see

Maybe you just ovulated late that month?
Great news that your baby looks fine and has a strong heartbeat though.

When I went for my 12 week scan it turned out I was 9 weeks, what we thought was implantation turned out to be just a really light period that month. All was fine at my 9 week with a lovely little heartbeat and very wriggly baby and again at my 12 week, am currently 21 weeks.
Try to relax until your next scan and hope all goes well for you

If you have long cycles you would be out if you’ve gone by the last period start date. My midwife sent me for a 12 weeks scan at 8+2, even though I told her my ovulation date, I have ridiculously long cycles. Go by your ovulation date and add 2 weeks, you’ll find it’s probably bob on with the dates they’ve given you at your scan x

Similar situation and stressing - went in for my 12w Scan yesterday only to be told I’m 6w1d. Devastated! Periods have been v irregular and very long cycles! They’ve asked me to come back next week as they said 6w too early to see heartbeat. I’m worrying and can’t take my mind off it. Help!
