Hey! Just a question. I'm a teacher working at a school and my fixed term contract is up in August. I have been told twice by my manager that after that my job will be advertised and I should apply for it. That was until I told them I was pregnant...now all of a sudden there is no need for my job in school and it can be covered by staff in house, so no job advertisement and no need for me after the end of my contract. They're well within their rights to bring my contract to a natural close but it's still not ideal - considering I was lead to believe there would be a role to apply for. This information was revealed 2 weeks ago so I have very little time to find a role for September. Also, I've never actually been informed personally that my contract is going to come to a close and I'll be leaving - i found out on a general email to all staff. Management haven't even spoken to me.
Anyway - to top it all off I've been told I need to work from home until the end of my contract due to COVID and pregnancy. However - I've had no work to do. I've contacted my boss several times by email and had no reply. They haven't given me any tasks and when I ask to come into work to use computers or access documents I'm told the risk assessment is so stringent that it would be very difficult. I just feel completely sidelined - since I told them I was pregnant they've just written me off. It's almost like I don't exist and I sit and home doing nothing. They've made things really difficult for me and treated me very disrespectfully. It seems to me like it's because I'm pregnant because previously, there was no problem and I was included in everything?!
Just wondering if anyone else thinks this is unfair treatment or I'm overreacting?! Thanks!
