Gellish / shellac nails in pregnancy?

I'm trying to get used to normal polish but the chipping every few days is driving me nuts.

Have heard conflicting things on if it's safe to have gel nails polish when pregnant (chemicals and UV light etc.) so have avoided until now but does it actually cause damage or one to add to the list of things people go OTT about?

I've never heard of them being dangerous in pregnancy. I got them throughout my pregnancy with ds and would be getting them with this pregnancy if nail salons were open.

I've been doing mine at home throughout, did plenty of reading on it and didn't consider it anything to worry about, especially if you're not exposing yourself to the chemicals regularly.

As soon as I can get mine done again I'm there!!

Fine in pregnancy but avoid once you get close to your due date. If you need an EMCS or other emergency monitoring it can interfere with the pulse ox meter and can’t be easily removed like normal nail polish.

@puntoebasta do you know if that is for toenails and fingernails? I'm planning an ELCS but was hoping to have a pedicure just beforehand with gel toenails.

It might vary between hospitals but at mine I was specifically asked not to have gel on both fingers and toes. Probably best to ask at your pre-op briefing appointment.
