Heavy clotting and pains 5 weeks

Hi,

I've posted on mumsnet before, but I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's experienced this before?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant, I started heavy bleeding last night and I passed 3 fairly big clots. Since then I've had mild period pains and brown stringy discharge (sorry if TMI)

I was scanned at my EPU and they said the yolk sac is still intact, they couldn't see an embryo or heartbeat due to only being 5 weeks.

They just said if the pains becomes unbearable and the bleeding fills a pad every hour then I need to go in.

I'm just wondering what this could be? I had my dates as 7 weeks. Initially the clear blue test was progressing but has been stuck on 2-3 weeks since 7th June.

Had I not been scanned I was convinced I definetly had a miscarriage, but there was definetly a yolk sac on the screen.

I'm feeling numb and detached, probably because I'm fearing the worst.

Anyone had this happen and had a positive outcome? Or have any idea why this could happen.

Any replies are really appreciated xx

Don't have an experience of this but I hope you're okay! Thanks

That sounds scary. What did the staff say at the time?

I dont have any experience personally but have heard of a haematoma? Could it be that?

They just said "sometimes this happens and some women go on to have healthy pregnancies and sometimes they don't"

They would normally scan me again in two weeks but they can't because of corona, so they've told me to just "wait and see" and come back if it gets worse.

Kind of left me in limbo

I’m so sorry. I can’t believe they’re not scanning you again! I’m guessing a pregnancy test is still positive? Do they expect you to just carry on as normal, book your 12 week scan etc? I know covid is serious & we need to be incredibly vigilant but that seems very careless to just send you on your way as if you’ll be fine.

I don’t have a positive outcome of a similar story I’m afraid but that doesn’t mean people haven’t! Bleeding can happen and all be well. In reality though, nothing anyone says on here will help. I know because I’ve been there. I’m actually there again now, third time round and it’s horrible but nothing can give you peace except your own outcome, whatever that is. I’d be pushing to go back in 2 weeks!

Hi, whilst I don't want to get your hopes up I want you to know I went through this at about 6 weeks and my two year old is now lying next to me in bed. Sorry if TMI but I was bleeding heavily and passing clots the size of golf balls. I can't remember exactly what they said it was called but it was basically a sack of blood that was breaking down. My GP told me I was likely miscarrying and sent me for a scan. Like you they couldn't detect a heartbeat as too soon so I had to go back a week later and he was still there. I think to get a heartbeat I had to have an internal scan. Thinking of you as I remember how awful and scary it was, take care and I hope you get a positive outcome
