Prenatal Choline and Covid-19

I just read an interesting article about the positive impact of choline (in dietary form and as a prenatal supplement) in foetal brain development but also that it can be protective for your unborn babies development if you contract a viral infection like Covid-19 in pregnancy.

Interestingly none of the popular UK prenatal brands contain choline. Does anyone use an additional choline supplement in pregnancy? Are there any dangers to it? Thought it might be worth looking into given the current climate.

I am taking the one from solgar.

I’m taking it because during my first pregnancy I had elevated liver enzymes during my last trimester, found out after delivery and choline helped to bring them back to normal.

I’ve also had this problem before and after the pregnancy and choline always helped. I should probably take it more or less permanently as I don’t have the best liver.

there are lots of official studies published and many recommend it for pregnant women for baby brain development. I wish I knew that the first time around, though my DD1 is very clever and advanced for her age. Hoping DD2 is, now with the choline, a genius :))

are you still taking them?

Ah.. I should say I took fish oil supplements from pregnacare during my fist pregnancy and taking it now too. That helps baby brain dev too, just need to buy supplements for pregnancy otherwise they might have too much mercury.
