I had my first at Cheltenham Maternity Unit, lovely midwife led unit but no available epidural. Now eight years later with number two and I would like to go to Gloucestershire Royal as I'd like an epidural (for many reasons). Has anyone had a recent or fairly recent experience of GRH and if so, what did you think?

Thanks x

Congratulations!
I had twins at GRH three years ago and they were amazing. We stayed a few days afterwards and the care we received was fantastic. Always happy to answer questions x

I had DD there 6 years ago and DS 4 years ago. DD started in midwife-led unit, which was lovely, all soft lighting and aromatherapy and birthing pools, plus they encourage Dad to stay the night if you do. Then I asked for an epidural so was taken to the medical unit downstairs, but the same midwife came with me - it was nice to have the choice of starting in one place even though I ended up in the other. DS was midwife-led all the way, but as he was born 12 minutes after I arrived, I didn't make much use of all the lovely facilities!

Good luck!

I had my little boy there 2 years ago and I couldn't fault them! The care both before and after baby was really good, and I felt like I was in really safe hands the whole way through Smile
