I’m 39w and today noticed my first stretch marks underneath my belly button. Red / purplish in colour.

I’m embarrassed to say I was pretty upset when I noticed them. I’d stupidly thought I’d managed to avoid them :/

have been religiously using cream twice a day from around 20 weeks to try and prevent (Palmers lotion, Elemis Japanese oil and now Rituals belly butter) but would love to hear any recomendations of any great products to use pp to fade stretch marks!

Thanks!xx

MNHQ update:
This thread is a few years old now, but if you've landed here after searching for stretch mark treatment options, our guide to the best stretch mark cream has been recently updated. It includes a wide range of oils, creams, lotions and body butters which have been tried and tested by Mumsnet users and approved by skincare experts.
Hope it's helpful! Flowers

Hi,
Congratulations.
With my DD now aged 15 I used palmers cocoa butter and bio oil, had no stretch marks and then developed them after she was born on my Lower abdomen as didn’t think I’d need to use cream/oil anymore.
My DS age 6 just used normal moisturiser. Didn’t get any with him but think that’s probably because my tummy had been stretched previously.
I’ve read it’s partly down to genetics whether you get them or not but I couldn’t say. X

Bio oil was the best I had found. Took a good six months before they started to fade unfortunately.

Another vote for Bio Oil.

I'm using bio oil, used it last time too.

Using Neal’s Yard Mother’s balm. I haven’t had one stretch mark and am 35 weeks pregnant. It smells and goes on so nice too :).
