Has anyone else had this?
My BP at today's app was 120/88 at start of app, then 125/88 at end. I've been asked to come back monday for another reading?
Has anyone had this and its dropped back down?
Ive had a pretty chilled day etc so dont think its stress or anything like that.

How many weeks are you?

I had BP issues in both my pregnancies and ended up on medication. It may well just be a natural fluctuation and it will sort itself out. It’s good that they are keeping any eye as if it is high it’s better to know and get on the medication if necessary.

I have a BP machine at home now so I could keep an eye on it myself. They sell them in chemists and on Amazon.

That’s a really normal blood pressure reading? I’m a bit confused.

Foreverbaffled · 19/06/2020 19:07

Maybe higher end of normal but not actually high (NHS considers anything over 140/90 as too high)

37 weeks today. I developed preeclampsia in my friend pregnancy so I think they are cautious of that. My previous readings have been 100ish over 74-76.
She said if the bottom number creeps to 90 I will need to head in to hospital for tests?!

First! 😂 not friends...
This Is 4th pregnancy so my understanding was it's extremely unlikely I'll get preeclampsia.

Oh okay. Sorry didn’t mean to sound dismissive. It’s better to be safe than sorry but I wouldn’t say your readings are terribly worrying x

No that's good, I'm hoping to make it to my section date so panicked me a little as she said they may bring it forward!
I feel otherwise fine and no protein in urine! X

Can often be slightly up one day and down again few days later... But it's good they are keeping an eye on it... What they will really want to see Monday that it isn't continuing to rise...its quite common especially near end of pregnancy.

As PP said might be worth getting/borrowing a BP monitor.. They aren't expensive.... Some peoples BP goes up if tested at gp/hospital towards home reading's so useful from that perspective.

I presume she explained to ring them if headache can't shift, struggle with light and have significant water retention etc

I had pre eclampsia with my first too and my BP was a bit variable all the way through my second pregnancy but no major drama (for me it’s after the baby is born that it properly shoots up, it’s happened both times!)

They normally do blood tests to check your kidney and liver function with an elevated BP. If those are ok they’ll normally let you carry on but they might monitor you more often. They will be more cautious due to you history of PE. At one point in my second pregnancy I was going in for BP monitoring every 48 hours. Hopefully you’ll be able to push through for a few more weeks.

4th pregnancy if to same partner then yes that's my understanding too.
However older mum is more likely to have hypertension.

I had significant post natal hypertension after each birth... Ended up back in hospital eacb time & worse each time..... So they watched me like a hawk in pregnancy.

Twice spent afternoon being checked out when pregnant but they just did range of tests and let me escape 😂. It wasn't too bad.
Hope you have no increase Monday.
