Hello, yes do keep an eye on it. I'd call the doctor to rule out a UTI.

Also, as the uterus moves out of the pelvis it can block the bladder being able to empty properly. This happened to me when I was about 14 weeks and I needed a catheter for a couple of days. I'd read it can happen online but my GP didn't listen so I ended up in A&E with an overly full bladder which was agony.

I've seen some ladies on here recommend moving around a bit when you try and wee (lean forwards/backwards/have a wiggle) so that might help.

Hiya, try and see your GP or midwife to get tested for a UTI in the first instance. I also had slow urine flow at about 11 weeks, which similarly to the previous poster then developed in to total urine retention at 12 weeks. I was also in A and E needing an emergency catheter and had one in for nearly two weeks until the baby moved up and off my bladder (the doctors tried to take it out twice In that time but I still couldn’t urinate). I then developed a urine infection afterwards due to having a catheter in for so long..! Goodluck Flowers

Hi thank you both for your comments, sorry to hear you had problems, I'll definitely keep an eye on it and I see what my midwife recommends 😊 fingers crossed it doesn't get worst

I had the same, was advised by my obstetrician to attend hospital immediately should I be unable to pass any urine at all, which did happen and I required a catheter, just for the day thankfully. Once baby got bigger and my tummy “popped out” I was fine. I had a retroverted uterus which may have contributed to the problem, but it only happened in my last of three pregnancies. Good luck op, I hope all goes well for you.

I’ve literally just come off to the toilet after trying to pass urine for about 5 minutes, was like a trickle and still dont feel like I’ve emptied it properly. Also just said to my husband ‘I think my kidney hurts a little’ and didn’t think much more of it... definitely going to keep an eye on it and call the midwife Monday if it doesn’t improve, thank you for the thread and advice :)

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and am having slow urine flow. The GP started me on antibiotics for a UTI and sent away a sample, but the result came back negative and he didn't seem particularly interested / concerned and said I should finish the course anyway. I've repeated the test as my symptoms were no better after a week. Is this too early to be what you ladies had? It's my second pregnancy and I never had any urinary problems last time, and no one ever mentioned retroverted uterus. It's been worrying me since it's such early days that I keep panicking there must be something wrong with the pregnancy Sad

Hey@Oneinoneout sorry to hear your having a bit of trouble, I'm not sure how early you would get it, maybe if it doesn't get any better in another few days/week go back to the gp? Did they seem concerned? Just keep yourself hydrated and see how it goes,I have found moving back and forth on the loo does help the flow some times, mines alot better now at 15 weeks

Thanks @Sazzy312, that's good to hear that your symptoms have improved! I've been necking the water but it is getting a bit tiresome, especially now nausea is starting to set in. Also I'm having to spend half my day on the loo because I can't fully empty my bladder when I do go. I'll try moving around to see if that helps and will definitely ring the GP again if it gets any worse. The first doctor I spoke to was quite switched on but the second appointment was with a different one and he seemed unconcerned; when he said my results were negative it seemed to imply that there was probably nothing the matter rather than lead to any further enquiries. Fingers crossed this is something that resolves itself! My bump is getting pretty big for only 6 weeks pregnant but I hear that can happen second time around so maybe it's to do with that.

@Oneinoneout good to hear your drinking, yes it can be a pain I found I didnt want to drink anything as all my taste just changed but I obviously had to, I had a uti back at Xmas so painful and when my urine was tested couldn't pick anything up but I thought it was probably due to it being so dilated as I had drank so much to help with the pain anyway I waited 6 days then took the antibiotics because thats what the doctor made me do and after a day or two it started to ease so I do wonder sometimes if you can have one but no necessary show symptoms on their swab things, good luck anyway I hope it improves soon for you

I’ve had a UTI test & scan everything seems to be fine.. Confused I’m now in the phone que waiting to speak to my GP.. I’ve been on hold for an hour but hopefully by the end of this, I’ll get some answers & solutions lol!! Smile
