Early Pregnancy Trapped wind

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice I am 5 weeks today and for the last 2 nights I have experienced horrendous cramps which I have linked to trapped wind and constipation.
The pain feels like it comes is spasms, it peaks to the point I'm rocking on the toilet and sweating then eases off for an hour or two but I'm absolutely exhausted and starting to worry it could be something else.
Pain feels like a general ache high up and I have had no bleeding or sharp ones low down.

If anyone has experienced this or has any advice I'd be so greatful

I've suffered on and off throughout pregnancy (now 32 weeks) so you have my sympathy!
I drink lots of peppermint tea and there are certain yoga positions which can help.

I had this a couple of times and peppermint oil capsules sorted it out.
Speak to your gp practice though if you are worried.

Hi! I'm 13+3 and I've been suffering the same - so much so that at my 12 week scan the midwife said I had so much gas in my intestines she could only get fuzzy photos of the baby! I had to come back for another scan! I don't have a miracle cure for you but be assured it's totally normal! Progesterone slows your digestive system down so gas, heartburn, reflux etc are common from early on in pregnancy I've been trying to avoid carbs and eat more fruit and veg, I still get totally bloated though.

Aw thank you ladies you have eased my worry. I shall do yoga with a cup peppermint tea haha.

I'm laughing now but my goodness it is painful, you all have my biggest sympathy. Just spoken to a lovely midwife who recommended lactalose for the bowels

I’m 7 weeks and have had this! The pain is just horrific! I found windeeze the tablets have helped also fybogel. It’s always worse after a Sunday dinner because I have loads of veg 😂. Try eating little and often xx

I've had IBS when younger and trapped pregnancy wind, where it was excruciating. The one thing that really settled it was a hot, fresh ginger drink. Grate a thumb sized piece of ginger (change amount according to taste, it can be very spicy!), pout hot water in, allow to cool and drink. That and peppermint tea every night can really make a difference.

Try fennel tea! Really helps with trapped wind and also tastes great lukewarm or cold.

I had trapped wind in early pregnancy it was awful! i used to have a couple of polo's and that would sort it out after a few minutes! :)

Thank you all so so much.

I just want to try and get on at this early stage but this pain just completely stops everything

I'm going to try all your suggestions

I had this the other night after having a take away (curry). It was quite scary until I realised it was trapped wind. It was very different to non pregnancy trapped wind. No more curries for me while I'm pregnant!
