Third trimester - how far can you walk?

Hello all

I’m 34 weeks and have been really struggling on my walks for the past couple of weeks. I can push through most of the aches and pains if I just take it slowly, but after about 20 mins I’m getting intense Braxton Hicks (I think??) which then makes me really need a pee!

I have to keep stopping to wait for the BH to pass and then am uncomfortable and paranoid that I’m going to wet myself, so that’s cutting my walk short and making them very unenjoyable.

Is this normal? Do I just have to accept that while there are no public toilets I just can’t leave the house for more than 30 mins??

Baby hasn’t even dropped yet so I don’t even have the cervix pressure I’ve heard about - another delight yet to come 🙄

39 weeks and for the past 2 or 3, I dont do anything that would have away from a loo for longer than half and hour.
Even a short walk leaves me with swollen ankles and a sore back/groin now.
They say to keep active to start off labour, but it's so hard when all the public loos are shut and you can barely waddle lol x

I’d say just do only what feels comfortable and check in with your midwife if feeling too uncomfortable

Yes Sad this has been one of the worst things for me. I used to go for long walks stopping at the pub or public toilets for wees. I bought a shewee but my area is too busy to use it outside, might be a good option if you're in the countryside

I'm 35 weeks. Baby had dropped and is head down and ready to rumble!

I have to walk the dog within 30 minutes otherwise I WILL wet myself. Walks are no longer enjoyable I either get braxton Hicks or a kick in the ribs as if to say "not today go home mum" 😶

I still go every morning with the dog as I am determined to keep fit and keep going but I no longer look forward to them.

I feel hot and sweaty very quickly and start overheating, I am putting away like I smoke 50 fags a day and on top of that have the danger of will
I wee or will I not???

Pregnancy is sooooooo fun!!! 😂😂😂

I'm only just 28 weeks and 30 mins is enough for me, so so much pressure on my bladder!

Jjajus · 19/06/2020 17:33

I’m the exact same as you!

I’m 32 weeks and baby is measuring big and I really struggle, after 15-20 mins of walking the braxton Hicks are so uncomfy and also make me need a wee!

We braved the shops the other day as we’ve not been able to buy any clothes for baby and I was in agony by the time I got back to the car with hip pain, braxton Hicks and nowhere to sit since there are no seats anywhere anymore 😭

Only do what you are comfortable with. I'm not 3rd trimester with current pregnancy yet, but with DD1 I found that some days I could manage to walk to work (about 40 mins by the time I was massive!), and other days I just couldn't because I'd ache too much. I'd ALWAYS need to have a wee as soon as I arrived!

You may not get cervical pressure. I didn't have any until I was in labour. I think it depends on the baby's exact positioning.

@Nelbert19
I’m just 27 weeks and I have now found myself walking a lot slower. Have always walked quite briskly. If I am out over 20 mins/half hour I need to go to toilet. I feel as though anytime I attempt to go for a walk baby decided to lie on or kick my bladder x

Nelbert19 · 19/06/2020 19:18

Well I’m glad it’s not just me, but sorry to hear everyone else is waddling about needing a pee too!

Very frustrating in lockdown - I was enjoying nice long walks and am starting to feel very cooped up at home 😭

27 weeks and definitely slower than usual. I'm not even in the third trimester but starting to get out of breath with the pressure on my chest, I'm normally very slim but my appetite goes wild while pregnant so I've put on 2 and a half stone already and my boobs are massive Confused plus achey hips doesn't help.
