I really, really, really want meat! My body says yes, but my head still doesn't quite know if I can handle it!
Although I have been eating tuna once every couple of weeks, and back in the summer (yes, we did have a very brief one) I tried a teensy bit of bbq'd steak.
Any other pregnant ladies succumbed to the desire for meat? Or have you successfully resisted temptation?
Anyone who ate meat during pg then gave it up again after birth? Please give me hope!!

I've been a veggie for around 7 years and all through my pregnancy peple have been trying to force feed me meat. I became really anaemic (HB 7.2) which fueled them even more! but i've managed to get it up to 11 now with Ferrous Sulphate tablets. I just couldn't stomach eating meat let alone red meat.... ugh!

Though i have to admit fish has looked temting (salmon fillets) but i have not given in! i've got 8 weeks till due date so hopefully the temptation will go when the babies born.

It's really interesting how different everyone is on this!
I know my body doesn't need the iron cos I'm not anaemic. Despite extreme tiredness in all my pregnancies, I have not been anaemic once.
I think I've decided that if I fancy meat and it is easily available I will just try it. Chances are I will spit it straight back out because it won't be anything like I remember/imagine! But if I like it I will pursue the Freedom Food thing (thanks Snowleopard, thats what I was looking for!)
My children both eat meat, but not a great deal TBH, and purely by their own choice. I always thought my dd would be more "sensitive" to the idea, but it actaully my ds who finds eating meat a more repulsive thought (as in "Mummy, what animal is this?". "It's ham". "Yes, but what animal is it?" "Pig", "I'm not eating pig"!!) Thankfully, he absolutely loves salads and veg.

I've been veggie for nearly 15 years, and have had meat cravings every now and then. I've found the best cure is to eat the craved meat, which will turn out to be GROSS and sort the whole matter out! I've recently had a go at eating organic free-range chicken, since I don't have such a moral issue with that, but just found it chewy and nasty and I'd rather have tofu!!

When I became veggie, all meat was cruel and awful, but now there's a much wider choice and you can maintain most of your morals and still eat meat. Buying local organic free range or freedom meat is the best option, I think.

Luckily I haven't found meat cravings to be related to pregnancy, just cravings for cake!!
