Hi,
I just went to the EPU to get some bloods done didn't expect them to scan me but they did.
I am 4+4 so very early, they did not detect a gestational sac or anything of any kind.
Is this normal ?
I should get my blood work back soon
Thank you for your replies x

I have had many, many, many scans. Eight pregnancies, one child. Weekly scans on that pregnancy, weekly on my losses. Never have I had a scan before 6 weeks, before 8 is always internal.

So yes, I'm answer to your question it would be way to early for a scan and I am very surprised they did one at all.

I hope you are ok and I would wait bloods, which it is Also early for, and just sit tight.

BeanieBabyLovex · 17/06/2020 15:32

Thank you, I only called because I was having pains and they took me in, I'm just disappointed they scanned me as they said it's likely nothing will be visible anyway.
Just trying to be strong now

Pains can be fine. I often had period type pain, shooting type pain, particularly right side.

It's such a worry and to me, that's just made you worry more and seems crazy.

I hope all is ok for you.

Dogsandbabies · 17/06/2020 17:21

Don't worry OP. I went in at 4+6 because I was having tip of the shoulder pain and they were worried about an ectopic. The scan showed nothing at all. No gestational sac, no embryo.

I went back last week at 8 weeks and there was a little foetus with a heartbeat measuring exactly as expected.

Best of luck

BeanieBabyLovex · 18/06/2020 11:22

My blood work came back at 127 and she said another number is 75 but I'm not sure what that was, she wasn't too concerned and I'm quite content x

That's very very early for a scan, have they offered to re-scan? Xx

BeanieBabyLovex · 18/06/2020 11:32

Yes they're going to rescan on Tuesday at 5+3 which I still think is too early, I just want to ensure my HCG is increasing more than anything x

Never had a scan before 8 weeks, I doubt there is anything to see at this stage

BeanieBabyLovex · 18/06/2020 11:58

I never requested the scan nor do I want one as I know there is nothing to see, I just want to ensure my HCG has gone higher up by my next appointment

OP posts:
Irishgene · 18/06/2020 12:15

Tell them that then, request tests to check HCG is rising and then ask if they can do scan at about 8 weeks xx

BeanieBabyLovex · 18/06/2020 12:17

I'll do that thank you hun ❤️

OP, contrary to what people have said, scans before 8 weeks are not always internal.

I had a scan at around 4 weeks, external. It showed absolutely nothing other than a tiny blob and the sonographer said she couldn't tell me if it was a baby or not because it might develop/might not to just to wait

Had another scan around 6 weeks and could hear a heartbeat loud and clear but no really baby pictured.

Positive ending, 20 month old currently asleep on me

Chl00 · 18/06/2020 12:33

Wow I was still drinking on holiday when I was at that stage.. i would say get another scan between 6-8 weeks because I think they can see the sac around these weeks but I wouldn’t worry yet because you’ve probably not made the sac yet that early on

2007Millie · 18/06/2020 12:55

Following on from my previous post, just forgot to say that like some have said I would wait until 8 weeks if you can. The scan I had at 8 weeks showed a baby so was much more reassuring that my previous ones

BeanieBabyLovex · 18/06/2020 13:18

I'm not worried per say about the scan, I had to go in due to health issues and pains, I just wanted to ensure my HCG was okay which it seems to be

OP posts:
FrankieChips · 18/06/2020 17:11

I went for an early scan at 4 weeks and they couldn't find a sac. Went back the next week and they found two although the most recent scan showed three with only one progressing. It's probably too early to see anything. Like you they are scanning me because of health issues x

BeanieBabyLovex · 21/06/2020 10:38

Me again, so I have a second TV scan on Tuesday I'll only be 5+3. Am I able to refuse this? I'm having no pains anymore and don't expect to see anything on the scan.
I just want them do HCG bloods
It's making me nervous, I'm having a private scan closer to 8 weeks that I'm really excited for

That was around the time I had my scan and although I couldn't see anything, I heard the heartbeat which was lovely
