I am looking for advice really! Over the past few days I've been having terrible stomach cramps and shooting pains in my lower tummy. The pain has woke me in the night. I wasn't sure if the pain was trapped wind, urine infection, ligament pain etc but it has been quite persistent . I finally gave in and rang the midwife. She said it sounded like pelvic girdle pain and to buy a maternity support belt. She said as I am only 19 weeks she would have sent me to the physio but due to covid she can't. Does anyone have any experience of this? I assumed that this only happened to women much later in pregnancy when they are much bigger. I have only got a little bump! She also told me to follow up with my GP tomorrow which I will do. After reading the NHS website I'm not entirely convinced it is pelvic girdle pain. Have any of you had painful stomach cramps during your second trimester? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated x

I had stomach cramps however I believe this was due to IBS. I also had shooting pains every now and again and put that down go round ligament pain. Both those pains were in my lower stomach towards the end of 2nd trimester.

Now in 3rd trimester and feeling pain in what I should describe as my pelvis area, which is below where I would describe my lower stomach. I assumed this was the start of possible PGP but it's not impacting me very much yet so not sought any help with it.

*would, rather than should

I get quite bad PGP and quite bad stomach cramps, and had no idea the latter could be due to the former!

It should still be possible to have a phone appointment with a physiotherapist. I'd recommend you request one.

I had been diagnosed with pelvic girdle pain throughout pretty much my entire pregnancy I was very unlucky and had gotten it very early on (about 17weeks) I realised something was wrong when my cousin who was only two weeks behind me in her pregnancy was getting none of the horrible pain while walking that I was getting, as it was my first I thought it was normal definitely wasn't! I think you would know 100% if it was personally for me it was a horrible sharp pain directly in my pelvis and groin like a constant stitch while walking I didn't really get cramps from it but I'm not a doctor so don't know what kind of different pains it can cause haha but would definitely recommend a pregnancy pillow really helped me! And the physical therapy helped as you mentioned you can't attend any this is some exercises they suggested for me when I attended, hope this helps!
