So I got prescribed antibiotics yesterday. I'm currently on the 2nd day and instead of symptoms easing, it's worsened. I'm actually feeling pain now when urinating. Does it get worse before better or does this mean it's not responding to the treatment? Do I complete the 7 day course or do I phone them back and ask for alternative treatment? Want to know your experiences. I'm not feeling great but I also don't want to keep changing medication if I don't need to

I would give it 72 hours for them to properly start working then would ring up if no improvement by then.

@sel2223 okay I'll do that.. I was thinking the same just worried as usually antibiotics kick in pretty much straight away for me and the fact its gone worse and I feel even worse than before treatment.. hate UTIs worst thing ever!

@Asianchick6693 you have my sympathy. I've had 2 UTI's so far this pregnancy....one was found during routine testing and I had no symptoms, the other was horrible and seemed to take forever to disappear.
Hope you feel better soon.

Cranberry juice has been known to help soothe UTI's, I usually down a couple litres each time. Also make sure you are drinking lots and lots. Fluid intake is important.

I know this sounds gross but if it hurts to wee it's usually because the wee has turned very acidic- if this becomes very painful pee in the bath. Sounds gross but it saves you from pain. Or pour water on yourself while on the toilet. Basically dilute your wee.

Feel for you. UTIs are the devil. But the antibiotics should kick in soon. If you have any back pain or it becomes unbearable make sure you ring for more advice. 🌟

Antibiotics typically work for me within a few hours, but I haven't had one when pregnant. My advice is to drink as much water as you can so when you need a wee, something actually comes out. Sorry you're dealing with this!
