My understanding is that BH shouldn't be painful.

I'd say contractions then. Have you called midwife? As you're not quite term they might want to check you over soon.

My midwife has been so unhelpful throughout my pregnancy Iv been calling her since morning she has not returned my calls. x

Can you call the hospital then?

Who are you meant to call when you're in labour?

My first point of contact is my midwife but she's not calling me back. Last week I went for an examination because I was getting braxton hicks they ended up keeping me in for 2 days jsit to keep an eye on me that I don't go in to early labour. I was lifelike jsit day there for 2 days takingi up a hosptial bed. I feel if I go again they will keep me in again and I don't want to be a wasting they time.... don't have a clue what to do. I thoight If my midwife answered her calls maybe she could see me and just check that I have defintly dilated. My waters haven't broken but that's not always what happens right. X

Waters can break right up until the last moment (and sometimes not even then!), so not the only indicator of labour. I suggest you call triage or the maternity unit. They can either advise you over the phone of get you to come in. You're absolutely not wasting anyone's time by getting checked out: your health and your baby's health are very important.
