So when does the pregnancy 'glow' start?

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and honestly I just feel fat and gross. I have no energy and I'm too lazy in the mornings to even put on my make up. I have put weight on already and I'm just constantly hungry. I thought things would be better when I hit the second trimester but not so far. I'm hoping when I can feel him/her start moving and I have a proper bump I might start enjoying it more. How has everyone's else's experience been?

I didn't start feeling 'glowy' or receive compliments on my pregnancy skin/hair until about 23 weeks. Just felt chubby and spotty before then. It does get better, but the hunger doesn't go away 😬

I'm 31+4 and can confirm that the whole 'pregnancy glow thing is a myth 🙈

Sorry!

There was a bit between about 20 and 26/27 weeks where I had more energy and less symptoms so that was probably the closest I got to having a 'glow'

Superscientist · 15/06/2020 17:11

I am 31 weeks and I'm not sure I've had a pregnancy "glow". I found my second trimester almost as tiring as my first and hated people telling me that it was the "wonder woman trimester". Since I've been in my third trimester I've had a bit more energy and have a brighter mood. I'm not sure if it's because I'm bigger and heavier so have lower expectations on myself. I still need breaks when I'm doing things but now a 5-10 minute sit down with a cup of tea and I have my energy back earlier I would need a nap.

I hope things get easier for you soon. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself to find your glow I think I would have had a better time in my second trimester had I not been sulking about how it was the same as my first trimester!

There's no such thing as "pregnancy glow" it's a myth lol.

Emberfoot · 15/06/2020 17:22

39wks and the closest I got to a pregnancy glow was climbing 4 flights of stairs when the lift broke 🙈

Niffler2019 · 15/06/2020 18:01

I don't think it exists lol. First trimester I had horrific sickness. 2nd trimester I still feel queasy, exhausted and spotty but now also fat and awkward 😂

MissHoney85 · 15/06/2020 18:46

I've had super oily skin since the beginning, and my skin has had a bit more colour in it too. I guess that gives me a slight 'glow', or maybe I just look greasy!

FirstTM2020 · 15/06/2020 18:55

Im 38 weeks... let me know when the glow starts 🤩 r

Buckingham1988 · 15/06/2020 19:07

Ime never had sickness through out both pregnancies which then instantly disappeared following delivery horrendous 9 months but was worth it.

ShinyFootball · 15/06/2020 19:09

I never glowed

Unbelievably knackered first 3 months

Then peri natal depression Sad

I think it's a thing to make women feel better about how shit it is for so many women isn't it?

My kids are 3&4 and I'm still waiting for my glow. I think it might be when they're teenagers and sleep in!

AliasGrape · 15/06/2020 19:16

I started a similar thread around 16/17 weeks! My SIL assured me it was 16 weeks, I was devastated when I got there and was still knackered and with awful skin - just fatter!

I’m 33+4 now and I don’t think I’ve had a glow yet. My skin was both spotty and horribly dry and flaky for ages, it’s looking pretty good now though so maybe that’s as much glow as I’m going to get! Although I’m not sure if it’s pregnancy or a combination of the new all natural cleanser and moisturiser I’ve been using (Sukin the range is called it’s pretty cheap on Amazon) or the fact I’ve not worn make up since lockdown started.

Dyra · 15/06/2020 19:42

Still waiting. 9 months post partum now.

BabyB19 · 15/06/2020 19:55

I'm ' glowing' now but I think it's sweat 😭🤣
But seriously I did seem to get better at about 16 weeks, I had terrible acne and headaches until then and now my skin is better than it's ever been. I can't say I'm 'glowing' as such but definitely a 100 times better than that first trimester and I'm 30 weeks now x

Peachypips78 · 15/06/2020 20:03

If the glow is greenish then I def had it Grin

I think the glow thing is bollocks. I was sick, tired, grey, puffy and swollen both times.

Same here. I looked okay during my pregnancy, I looked amazing immediately after DD was born (adrenaline I think) and she's now 4. The glow never arrived!
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/06/2020 21:15

Ha! I'm still waiting and mine are 15 and 13 😂

Wanderer1 · 15/06/2020 21:21

Bare with me, I risk sounding gloaty- I very much got the 'glow' in the first half of my pregnancy. Looked bright eyed and glowing skinned, hair and nails nice, natural dark rings disappeared. I HATED it. I felt sick 100% of the time and couldn't operate as a human on a day to day basis (eventually diagnosed with mild HG). Everyone I saw, including doctors I was desperately seeking help form said "you look so well" or "pregnancy suits you". I wanted to punch every single person who said that but I couldn't because moving my arms too fast would make me feel more sick. I had a meeting with my boss at work and was trying to explain that I was far to sick to work for a few weeks, and I was sat there glowing all over the place and looking like I was lying 😂

EverythingBlue2020 · 15/06/2020 21:29

34 weeks here and no glow yet! Confused

WhatWouldPennyDo · 16/06/2020 08:23

I looked knackered and slightly grey until about 10 weeks - basically looked hungover until then.

I’ve been really lucky since though. Hair and nails looking great, have lost weight on my face so cheek bones looking good, lovely neat bump and my skin is excellent.

On the flip side, at 22 weeks I’m feeling knackered, can barely get out of bed or up from a chair unaided, cry at the drop of a hat, walking up the stairs makes me out of breath and my nipples feel like they’re about to catch fire.

I’d rather look like shit than feel like it!
