Sickness starting at 13 weeks anyone else?

Hi ladies,

Just interested to know really if anyone has experienced this.
I am 13+3 weeks pregnant and have had nausea all the way through my first trimester but never been physically sick.
Well this morning I woke up as normal, ate before getting up which usually helps with dizziness etc except when I got up and walked downstairs I was violently sick with what I can only think is the contents of my stomach and more.
I’ve never been so sick it was horrendous, to make it even worse I’m home alone so had to somehow sit and clear it all up afterwards.

Anyway I now feel awful and my stomach is empty unsurprisingly but I’m worried this is going to be a new thing? I’ve just eaten one rich tea biscuit but I feel like it’s going to come back up already. Sad

I thought by now I’d start to feel better not worse, I’ve also been getting migraines every day for the last week or so which is knocking me for six.
Any advice? Will doctors help or should I speak to my midwife or is it just one of those things from being pregnant and get on with it?

Thanks all

Definitely worth speaking to the doctor/midwife! It could be a one off or short lived (lots of people have sickness until around 16 week). However my personal experience was that I had 'regular' morning sickness for the first 12-14 weeks of each pregnancy which then developed into HG and I threw up violently for the rest of the pregnancy requiring anti-sickness meds. Obviously it's impossible to say at this stage! Just worth considering that sickness can get worse at a later stage. Bizarrely.

@Littlehouseinthebigcity thank you for replying!
It’s so bizarre how it can worsen randomly , it’s such a rollercoaster.
I’ve completed the online questionnaire with my doctors in the hope I can speak to a GP but I don’t feel very hopeful.

How do you feel now?

Cobbsgirl92 · 15/06/2020 18:22

At the moment I feel awful, the doctors couldn’t offer me an appointment over the phone until next week.
I’ve had an all day headache again and every single smell sends me sick.
Hoping for this to end soon, it’s so hard to stay positive!

Just try and stay hydrated! If you can't manage liquids maybe try ice pops? The headaches may well be dehydration. I'm sorry you feel bad, it's so rough 😔

That sounds awful! I didn’t have the migraines but my sickness also only started on week 13, like you nausea up to 12 week point every day; feeling like I wanted to be sick but never did it. Then randomly one morning about week 13 it came out of nowhere!! When it started it wasn’t every day, maybe twice a week? Then tailed off and would say from week 20 even the nausea went. It was mainly certain smells that got me worse, husband was cooking kale for breakfast one morn and I had to throw up in the kitchen sink!!
Do you have a midwife contact you can text? I think as PP have said just try to stay hydrated, could you manage a ginger tea or something?

Hi OP! I sympathise with you - I'm 12+4 and suddenly my vomiting has just returned with a vengeance. It was awful between 8-11 weeks then seemed to trail off but I have just thrown up so much this afternoon 🙁. I just can't seem to keep fluids down and the thought of having a drink makes me 🤢. I actually feel dreadful today, my boyfriend said I look exhausted and my mum said I look drained. I don't know whether I'm just having a mega hormonal day?! I was having hot flushes earlier too. Not nice. I do think some days are worse than others and I'm trying just to roll with the bad days and enjoy the good days. It's so so tiring. I just have a feeling I'm going to be one of the ones who struggles throughout the whole thing!

With my son i was mildly nauseous from wk 4 to wk 12 then it disappeared, it returned wk14 with a vengeance (my 20min commute to work took 45mins because i had to pull over so often) and stayed with me until i gave birth

I’m into my 16th week and only just got rid of the nausea, had me in tears several times. Don’t worry about food just try and have liquids, ice lollies etc. I also suffered badly with headaches and didn’t want to take paracetamol so the only thing that really helped was sleep.
