Pregnacare making sickness worse?

Ducky1900 · 14/06/2020 22:25

I've been taking my vitamin in the evening, as its when I feel less sicky.
I've noticed that I feel OK when I take the vitamin then an hour or so later, I feel really sick again... Coincidence?

I'm going to get just folic acid and vitamin D tomorrow to see if I notice a difference.

Has anyone else found this?
I have read they give people headaches and increases sickness.

I did, I ended up switching to basic folic acid and vitamin d too! x

APurpleSquirrel · 14/06/2020 22:27

I tried Pregnacare in my second pregnancy as I had some freebies, but didn't get on with them at all so switched back to Seven Seas which is used in my first pregnancy, they contain ginger to help with nausea.

BlodwynBludd · 14/06/2020 22:29

Pregnacare made me so ill. I didn't even try it for my second pregnancy

Fedupmum13 · 14/06/2020 22:30

Pregnacare made me super nauseated throughout my pregnancy. The day after I stopped taking it my sickness went. I think possibly too much iron in there? I would take separate vitamins if I were you

Ohyesohyeah · 14/06/2020 22:31

I eventually worked out at 16 weeks that pregnacare was making my sickness twice as bad. If I manage to get pregnant again I will absolutely not take them - will take separate of everything I need. Just keep an eye on iron levels too if you stop.

KitKatKit · 14/06/2020 22:32

Pregnacare triggered major headaches for me, it was unbearable! I took just folic acid and Vit D for a while, then took Seven Seas and have never looked back! Highly recommend.

BertieBotts · 14/06/2020 22:33

I've definitely heard of this. Personally I only take folic acid. I get two packs, one with vitamin d and one with iron and if I'm feeling fatigued I take the iron ones, if I'm feeling constipated I take the other ones. If neither I take whichever :o I'm not convinced the mega multi ones are really worth all they claim.

Lots of women seem to struggle with pregnacare for some reason but I'm 31 weeks and been taking it since about week 6 or 7.

I actually started taking it because my sickness was so bad in the first trimester, I was worried baby wasn't getting the right nutrients. I continued to have awful sickness for quite a while but can't blame the pregnacare as was having the sickness before I even started taking it.

I've kept it up (taking the max ones now) and haven't been sick for nearly 12 weeks!

CoolNoMore · 15/06/2020 05:31

Yup, it's the high iron content. I'm fine if I take it just before bed, as long as I go to sleep fairly swiftly (although I think lying down helps anyway).

LJC1234 · 15/06/2020 05:38

It made me so sick ! I had to stop taking it .

Em39ma · 15/06/2020 06:05

I was told to stop as it made me very sick. I just take folic acid and vit D.

Nquartz · 15/06/2020 06:13

Do you take it with food? I took mine in the morning but if I took it before breakfast I'd be sick but after i was fine.

Ducky1900 · 15/06/2020 14:20

Yes I take it just after dinner.
I've brought some super drug folic acid and vit D combined, fingers crossed it'll make a difference.

agree, made me very sick and also constipated. Bought some boots' folic acid, vit D, vitamin b - complex and some omega 3 capsules and was absolutely fine.

PurpleMystery · 15/06/2020 14:27

Yes I had this issue with pregnacare in all my pregnancies. Boots own folic acid and vitamin d didn’t make me feel sick

maryd84 · 15/06/2020 16:30

I find pregnacare fine so long as I take them with food. They'd make me nauseous if I took them with an empty stomach.

emvy · 15/06/2020 16:57

Ugh, I felt AWFUL on Pregnacare. I ended up on Seven Seas and that was much better. Vitamin D and Folic Acid individually is also fine though!

tigerwhocametoT · 15/06/2020 17:10

Pregnacare made my morning sickness even worse when I was pregnant with DD 6 years ago so I switched to Seven Seas which was so much better. Stuck with Seven Seas for my second and thirds pregnancies.

Gingernutlady · 15/06/2020 18:32

It's absolutely not a coincidence!

I've been taking pregacare pre conception for years, and never had a single issue, but when I fell pregnant I changed to pregnacare max.

And I was so nauseous all the time. Even struggeled to swallow the tablets which never happened before. Started taking them at 3 weeks and stopped at 8 after talking to the midwife and her saying they make a lot of women poorly. The nausea was dramatically reduced overnight. It was wild.

Since then I've taken pregnacare pre conception (same amount of the important vitamins anyway) or boots home brand.

Dkellyno12 · 01/05/2021 19:13

Hello,
I thought this pregnant with my first. I took the pregnacare liquid and I was so sick. With my second I thought I’d try the gummies and I have been so so rough again. I’m just going to go back to folic acid and vit D. Hopefully it comes out of my system
Soon!

EssentialHummus · 01/05/2021 19:16

Yes, same here. Boots own FA and Vit D way better.

Dkellyno12 · 01/05/2021 20:05

Brill! I hope it passes soon as I’m very rough right now x
