Bleeding at 12 weeks 4 days

Hi ladies, I'm just hoping for a handhold or maybe someone with experience either good or bad. I am currently 12+4 and tonight after going to the toilet I realised I was bleeding. It seemed quite heavy and was like a period with tiny black clots. This was an hour ago and it has slowed down, just there when I wipe now. I'm not experiencing any stomach cramps although my back was a bit sore earlier. I ha e also been having this rolling sensation in my stomach today. I wondered whether it could possibly be movement as I have a 19 month old too. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in March and I'm just so sure it's happening again.
I was supposed to have my dating scan tomorrow morning but I was in contact with my local gynae ward and they advised me to contact my local epu in the morning to arrange a scan as my dating scan was due to be in another hospital about 45 minutes away.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Here to handhold. It is horrible not knowing isn’t it? I had two miscarriages just before my scans. I have an older one, and went on to have another baby in the end.

On the other hand my sister had bleeding in early pregnancy and the baby was fine.

There’s no certainty but I’m praying you get some sleep tonight somehow. It’s a good sign I think that the bleeding has stopped. My 10/11 week ones both continued for hours.

Take care of yourself, maybe have a bubble bath or watch a box set. Let us know how you get on.

Flowers no practical advice I’m afraid but here to hand hold. Unless you have severe pain, try to get some rest and take some paracetamol if that would help. Fx for you

@peajotter the not knowing is horrible. I feel so stupid as I told my family last night during a zoom call, I really thought it was safe as I had passed 12 weeks but now I'm terrified I'll have to tell them I've lost it. They were all so happy.
The bleeding has slowed down but not stopped completely, it's only there when I wipe and now it's thicker, almost like blood mixed with cm. I'm swinging between assuming it's happening again to being optimistic. I suppose I'll know more tomorrow. Thanks for your kind message.

@Diorissimo1985 thank you for you message. I don't have any pain. I have the strangest sensation in my stomach, like the gurgling of wind. Praying it's not the start of something more.
I'm going to try to read some of a book that until 2 hours ago was really gripping me. Now I keep going over the same sentence multiple times. Maybe meditation might be better.

I can tell you I had the exact same thing. I am now 17 weeks and all is going fine. I have had a few bleeds. Two bleeds being so heavy they have soaked through pads and i was convinced of the worst. Got scanned at early pregnancy unit and baby was totally happy in there. Can be a number of reasons. A wee clot. Polyps on your cervix. Hope all okay but don't sit worrying get on the phone to midwife unit xx

KrissyMB · 14/06/2020 22:54

Also my bleeds happened at 7 weeks, 10 weeks and 13 weeks. If the bleeding has slowed that is very positive x

Wowcherarestalkingme · 14/06/2020 23:15

I had very heavy bleeding from 7 weeks to 9 and light bleeding around 12 weeks. Baby is now seven months old and they couldn’t find a reason for the bleeding. I have also been on the other side of it where it was not such happy news. Bleeding in pregnancy is very scary. Hope you have good news at your scan x

denbyellie · 15/06/2020 02:59

How did you get on at epu? Xxx

Persiaclementine · 15/06/2020 03:54

In my experience, my miscarage started with spotting, only ever had blood and clots when the miscarage was active and it didnt slow down it increasingly got heavier. With bright read blood to start and quite alot if it, I'd assume perhaps a pocket of blood behind the placenta, or another cause that wasn't due to miscarage, but think can be classed as threatened miscarage. Obviously you will only know after you've had your scan what's going on. Hope it's good news for you

joystir59 · 15/06/2020 04:46

Good luck OP.

Lori86 · 15/06/2020 05:46

I managed to get some sleep last night. I have been awake since before 5 and expected to have big blood loss when I got up after lying down all night but it hasn't been too heavy at all. It's still there on wiping only. I don't really know what to make of it but I'm too afraid to have any hope. The back pain was there on and off all night but still no pains. I think the feeling I'm experiencing in my stomach is tightening but I'm not 100% sure.
My epu doesn't open until 9 so I'll phone then. Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll update later x

How did your day go OP?

peajotter · 15/06/2020 19:28

Thinking of you @Lori86

Lori86 · 15/06/2020 21:21

Not great to be honest, I went to the scan that had been previously arranged & there was no heartbeat. Baby stopped growing at 8 weeks 5 days so exactly 4 weeks ago. I'm devastated. I don't know how I'll ever get the picture of the wee perfect looking baby shape just lying still with no heartbeat.
Going to epu tomorrow to discuss the next steps, I honestly don't know what to do. I started bleeding again earlier and passed a few clots so I thought it was naturally progressing but it stopped after 20 minutes.

@Lori86 I just wanted to say I am extremely sorry for your loss, you must be heartbroken. I had a similar experience with a seeing a perfect baby shape but there being no heartbeat and I think I know how you feel. Please be kind to yourself and take very good care. I hope you manage to get a little bit of rest this evening. Again, I am so sorry you are going through this X

Diorissimo1985 · 15/06/2020 22:40

I am so sorry Flowers

Elouera · 15/06/2020 22:47

So sorry OP. Its awful and especially at this time. I know its difficult. I started bleeding a few weeks ago at 10 weeks, but the EPU wouldn't scan me, so I didn't know exactly what was going on till I MC'd at home!

There are leaflets, info, a forum and chat line at the miscarriage associate which you might find helpful. Remember that this isn't your fault and you aren't alone Flowers
