Hair dye - help?

Before I fell pregnant I dyed my hair, supposedly ombré but it literally is brown then yellow - looks beyond awful.

I didn't dye it straight away as it was lockdown and I figured no one would see it and I wanted to give my hair a break, fast forward to now and I'm 6 weeks along and mortified at the thought of keeping this hair for the remainder of my pregnancy.

Is there any pregnancy safe hair dyes? I just want plain brown, I just want to be able to wear my hair down again

TIA xx

I had my hair dyed repeatedly with just professional hair dye at the hairdressers while I was pregnant. Didn’t do me any harm. If you are doing it yourself though it maybe harder because the smell of the peroxide really goes for you and you need to be in a well ventilated area while it’s being applied ( I was always next to an open window).

Hi op.... CONGRATULATIONS..... I was told there isn't enough chemical in a hair dye to cause damage, I had 2 pregnancies both ended in mmc 1st one I dyed my hair 2nd one I didnt xx

The risk is not the chemicals it's the fact due to pregnancy hormones the colour might not take as it usually would. I had mine bleached and baylaiaged wrong spelling completely! But it was fine

Defo do a test on your skin, never had a allergic reaction before and dyed for years. Had a bad reaction with a small bit put behind my ear when pregnant!

I've dyed my hair throughout my pregnancy. Midwife had no issues with it.

Absolutely fine to dye in pregnancy but absolutely do your patch test and make sure you’re in a ventilated area. I dyed mine the other week in the garden Grin

I'm a hairdresser and I've never heard of a colour that's not pregnancy safe. Just do a skin test first!

I was worried about this 1st time around, and just waited until I was in the 2nd trimester. No evidence based reason why, it just made me feel better 🙈

My friend is a hairdresser and told me it's more about your skin being 'different' rather than the chemicals being harmful. Your skin could possibly react differently when pregnant, even to products you've used a million times before (same with face creams, make up etc).
Just do a skin test the day before to be sure it's fine.
