When you realise that if your twin pregnancy goes well and you are fortunate enough to leave hospital with two babies you will now require a new car to enable 3 car seats to fit in the back of your car for the babies and your 2 year old 🤦🏼‍♀️ this pregnancy just got more expensive 😳

Omg you poor thing! I’m due with my first soon and literally bought a 3 door car about a month before I got pregnant which I’m so annoyed at 😂

MamaFirst · 12/06/2020 22:59

This is SUCH a challenge, it's unreal. Peugeot 5008 we found can fit three car seats across the middle row, and it leaves the 6th/7th seats down to still have a boot for the pushchairs you'll need!

2007Millie · 12/06/2020 23:12

Can you not buy that thing that makes 3 car seats fit?

2007Millie · 12/06/2020 23:14

The Multimac.

Although is v v v expensive

@2007Millie I literally didn't even know something like that existed. The plan was to only really ever have 1 child. Now this second pregnancy has miraculously produced twins (who don't run in my family lol) I how a world full of what I guess are only 1st world problems but prevalent to me all the same! X

@emma911030

I think you sound as if you're coping very well. What an incredible shock for you!

DressingGown87 · 13/06/2020 09:24

@emma911030 congratulations! when I had my (ex) step children living with me, there wasn’t much age difference between the twins and the eldest. So they all needed car seats. We got a Ford Kuga, and that seemed to fit all three seats in, with the eldest in the middle, as we didn’t want a 7 seater.

You can turn the air bag off and put one of the new borns in the front

coffeeandjuice · 13/06/2020 21:09

Although of course this is not recommend and is safer to put them in the back...

kkr168 · 13/06/2020 21:59

@MamaFirst we are looking at this car as an option for us. What's the boot like if the 6th & 7th seat is left up? Is it possible to have just 1 back seat up? We will need 6 seats on the odd occasion, mainly when we take my grandad out.

@kkr168 The boot is pretty small with all seats up - about enough for a smallish pushchair and a bag of shopping maybe! Unfortunately this seems to be fairly standard even in seven seaters. You can have one seat up, one seat down though in the back. The middle car seats also can't move forward with car seats on the chair, as they bend over to let people in the back... But this is why three seats across the middle was so important to us. It would be manageable for the odd day out, but not hugely practical for daily use. I am pregnant with #4, but fortunately my eldest only needs a small booster now. All in all though, we love it, its a great car 👍
