Hay Fever! Help!

I know I have seen a thread on this before but I can’t seem to find it when searching!

I have had horrendous hay fever since I was a child and get prescribed strong antihistamines and steroid nasal sprays and eye drops each year.
This year I’m pregnant and have been trying to avoid all medication. Hasn’t been too crazy up until now as I’ve been able to avoid going out much but it’s come to a head this week and I want to claw my own face off 🙈

I’ve had no luck whatsoever getting hold of my GP or midwife to get advice so went to the pharmacy and they refused to sell me anything because I’m pregnant.

Can anyone advise anything that can be bought over the counter that is 100% safe in pregnancy that I can send my partner out for to hopefully relieve symptoms even slightly? 😷

Hi OP. If you're in your first trimester you can't take anything, but if you're further along just your standard over the counter antihistamines are fine. Cetirizine or Loratadine.
Any brand is fine to the beat of my knowledge. The doctor told me I was fine to take them in my second trimester onwards and my FIL is a pharmacist who told me the same thing.
If you're in your first trimester it's just your big standard over the counter nasal spray, but again you need to check with a pharmacist as there may be some sprays you cannot take x

Continue with beconase or equivalent nasal spray, sodium cromoglycate eye drops and loratidine or cetirizine antihistamines are both considered safe. I normally take fexofenadine but have switched to loratidine this year.

Thanks guys 😊 I’m just under half way. I know for a fact that cetirizine and Loratidine don’t help me at all so not going to bother with those but hopefully can get a nasal spray that will calm the itching and runny nose.

Pharmacist wouldn’t even offer advice after she knew I was pregnant 🙈 told me everything had to be prescribed.
