Hey
Debated about posting as I've been here in 2018. Caught pregnant with my son & he was born prematurely and died after a month of complications.

I have an elder child too. Our son was the first baby with my husband.

We've since been ttc for 22 months. Had 4 rounds of ivf. And I recently turned 40.

Earlier this week I tested at 13dpo as I was feeling ropey. And a got a strong BFP & a 1-2 weeks on clearblue digital.
Tested every morning and line can't get much darker.
Today got a 2-3 weeks (I estimate I'm 4week 2days so this is accurate).

We've been overjoyed but obviously petrified.

I've started progesterone two days ago and steroids today.
For the last 2 hours I've had cramping and an upset stomach. So obviously going out of my mind.

Anyone out there on these meds too?

Xx

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I've been on progesterone pesseries 400 twice daily since I got my BFP and I'm now 14 weeks and will take them till 16 weeks (multiple MCs and I'm 40 too). It did change my symptoms a bit and the first two weeks were a bit rough adjusting to them. As well as cramps, wind and nausea, I got really bad thrush like irritation so made sure to go to the toilet or shower an hour after inserting which made the irritation stop. Good luck!

@MariaDingbat Lovely to hear from you. Glad things are going well too!! Eek!

How you feeling now?

I have had the pessaries with each ivf round and I've been given them now as a precaution as they can't hurt!! Same with the steroids.

And lovely to hear another 40 mum too!! X

Hi Rainbow. I’m very sorry for the loss of your son.
I’m 41 years old and 15 weeks pregnant through after 4 miscarriages, all IVF. I was on steroids, progesterone and blood thinners up until 13 weeks and i had a horrible upset stomach on and off for weeks! Like you I so worried as the cramping is was quite painful. But I think it’s just your body adjusting to all the hormones, and an upset stomach is a side effect of all the drugs. I also became really bloated by week 6/7, so watch out for that joy too!
Really hope that you and @MariaDingbat both have a safe and healthy pregnancy x

@ByTheSeaCatsandAll aww congratulations lovely! How you feeling now?

Thank you for the reassurance. I think it's got to be the meds. Last night was so scary. I won't be graphic but it was clearly a dodgy stomach! Tryin to eat and drink more today to see if it helps. Xx

Thanks for the lovely wishes both. I'm feeling human again now I'm in the second trimester and my energy and appitite is coming back.

Oh I just remembered! Two weeks after I started taking them I had what felt like the worst food poisoning, sorry to be graphic but it was an incredibly upset stomach that came out of nowhere in the early hours of the morning and I had sweat dripping off me into the floor as I sat on the toilet. Absolutely terrible hour or so, then a delicate stomach for a couple of days. I also had light spotting that week (6+5) and called the EPU who were worried about ectopic or infection and scanned me at 7 weeks and all was well. The Dr said the spotting can be the pessary irritating your cervix. Nothing since thankfully.
