Excess Facial Hair

Hi lovely ladies,
Hope all doing well.

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and facing too much facial hair growth. I used to have normal growth before pregnancy. Waxing has become a pain😔.

Is this normal? Is anyone else facing similar issues?
Please advise.

Thank you.

Oh my god yes, I'm the same! It's getting ridiculous! I've bought some dermaplaning blades which have really helped!

Pinktruffle · 12/06/2020 16:33

I'm quite hairy anywhere (I have PCOS) but it's gone crazy since I've been pregnant! Even places where I have had laser treatment have sprouted hair again! I'm in my second trimester now and it's slowed down a little, the first was much worse.
I have a Phillips Lumea machine at home so have been using that to maintain my face. Probably not a useful suggestion to you guys but I wanted to show some solidarity!

Thank you guys. A sense of relief as I am not alone in this☺️.
I hope the hair growth becomes normal for all of us as the pregnancy progresses.

I also have a Phillip's Lumia which is life changingly amazing, tho I'm not using it during pregnancy as I'm already getting the darkened skin patches and worried that'll make it worse (it says so in the warning leaflet too).
But seriously OP, just shave with a little bikini razor. No ingrown hairs, no pain, good as new. My confidence has rocketed since I started doing it a few years back.

Not quite the same but related maybe, I have started growing hairs around my nipples and under my belly button Confused

Only a handful of strands but they are thick and black. I don't mind them really but it was certainly unexpected!

My body hair has gone crazy in 1st trimester, i have hair everywhere now: noticeable dark sideburns, on my chin, my upper arms and a super hairy tummy (very long and dark), on my back just above the knickers's line. Basically what is used to be just light fluff, not it's long and very dark, it's embarrassing. I'm becoming a werewolf pretty much. 🤦‍♀️🤪
I am waxing my legs, arms, bikini and underarms, moustache and chin but i am debating whether to bleach my sideburns and tummy as i keep reading lots of pro and cons arguments and studies.
Hopefully it will return to normal after birth although some ladies say they lost the unwanted hair and some other didn't.

It's amazing that pregnancy can do so many unexpected changes to our body.
I really hope the hair growth becomes like a woman for all of us.
Hopefully in second trimester the excess hair should be gone.

Can i join in i am 12 weeks pregnant with twins. With my first i had a teally hairy stomach and i have that again but i have found 2 dark yet not course hairs on my chin and I am mortified and so self conscious.

I have brought some bleach as I heard you can do that once in second trimester. I just hope it goes away after babies are born.

I dont want to pluck or thread it incase it encourages growth. Any advice greatly appreciated

Bluejayway91 · 04/11/2020 08:29

Hi OP,

I was hairy before, but my God... Getting hair I never usually did and my chin and neck require daily plucking. Aren't hormones fun?

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/11/2020 08:33

Same here!!! I am naturally hairy but since being pregnant it's gone mad! My face and belly mostly.
The growth seems to have slowed down in second trimester and tbh i got used to it and kind of stopped focusing on it.
More on growing that baby 😊
But yeah at first it was a bit of a shock.

rosie990 · 04/11/2020 08:52

@bluejayway91 @sunnysideup2020

Thank you ladies its so good to know i am not alone. The belly hair doesn't bother me its my face I am conscious about. Hopefully bleaching wi help until after babies are born and it goes away.

Bluejay- did you try bleach first or so straight to plucking? I have always thread my upper lip but don't want to start the chin incase it means I have to maintain forever

Bluejayway91 · 04/11/2020 09:48

@rosie990 I bleach my neck and pluck the thick hairs. With my chin, the hair has always been thick (great genes), but since becoming pregnant the hair has been sprouting up like crazy. I'm hoping that one day I can get it lasered.

rosie990 · 04/11/2020 10:07

@bluejayway91 hopefully after pregnancy the excesa hairs will calm down and fall out. Then you can get treatment if needed.

Mine just appears darker it doesn't feel much thicker.cant wait to bleach the suckers later when amazon arrives. 🤣

Misty999 · 04/11/2020 13:51

I'm the opposite hairy beast normally but during pregnancy hair growth slows right down.
