Clearblue weeks stuck at 1-2... ectopic or miscarriage?

MrsTD88 · 12/06/2020 08:52

I took a Clearblue digi on 28 May and thrilled when it came back 1-2 weeks. I have had previous early pregnancy loss and missed miscarriage so naturally keen to check progression, however my test just won't get past 1-2 weeks. Always test with fmu and this morning again said 1-2 weeks. I have pcos and therefore it is really difficult to tell when I conceived but it has now been just over two weeks with no rise and therefore I'm convinced my levels aren't rising and an ectopic is to blame or an miscarriage is imminent. I am UK based so hcg blood testing at the gp is not the norm and really don't want to use up valuable NHS time demanding one if I'm being neurotic. Any similar experiences (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated

Update: called the midwife as I am freaking out and she mirrored my concerns, she advised to call early pregnancy unit. EPU have taken my details and awaiting a call back from the nurse

I really hope you manage to get a scan in. So pleased the midwife has taken your concerns seriously. Let us know how you get on. Thinking of you and everything crossed xx

MrsTD88 · 12/06/2020 14:07

@Willow146 thank you for kind reply. I have just had a long chat with EPU, she then also spoke with the Doctor while I was on hold. They are not overly concerned and feel that Clearblue are good but certainly not full proof. They have advised to test again in two weeks and see what the result is then. If it is still 1-2 then they will like get me in for an early scan (I should roughly be 8 weeks by then) X

Update: I took another test after two weeks (26 June) as advised by EPU, this still came back showing 1-2 weeks. The lady I spoke to spoke with a doctor and they both agreed as I had no bleeding and no pain to carry on as normal and treat as a normal pregnancy. I couldn't help but shake the bad feeling though and booked a private scan for yesterday (4 July). This unfortunately confirmed my fears and showed an empty sac measuring only around 5 weeks - I should be at least 8 going by when I first tested positive. An internal scan showed the sac looking misshapen and the sonographer advised that it looked like it is starting to break down. They have booked me in for a rescan in 10 days as standard procedure but I honestly have no hope there will anything worth seeing. I am absolutely devastated and unsure what to do now. I fear if I contact EPU I'll just be told to wait and see as I am not bleeding yet, the thought of waiting until the 12 week scan in a few weeks to just have the inevitable confirmed just seems cruel. I have gone through missed miscarriage before and the process is so draining mentally and physically.

I am so sorry to hear your devastating news. Heartbroken for you. Xx

Christie08 · 05/07/2020 19:47

I'm sure your going through such an awful time at the moment, how are things wuth you now? I'm also going through something similar but haven't been scanned or anything and doctors won't do anything either. I'm 5+1 and clearblue still showing 1-2 weeks.

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2020 21:40

@chocohol thank you for your kind words X

@Christine08 I'm so sorry you're going through uncertain times. I'm just feeling a bit numb at the moment and a bit angry at myself for not trusting my instincts sooner. Are you positive on your dates or could there be a bit of leeway? X

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2020 21:41

@Christie08 sorry wrong tag there

@MrsTD88 it's an agonising 10 days wait for you, but fingers crossed maybe everything will be OK?

Im almost certain on my dates as I was doing opks and bbt and am almost convinced I implanted at 7dpo! I'm not sure if I should just go with my tests or else worry about the clear blue weeks indicator! I'm in the middle of changing doctors so I can't speak to my new doctor until at least Wednesday x

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2020 22:09

@Christie08 I honestly wouldn't be too worried if I were you as there could just be a small overlap, 1-2 is really 3-4 and if you are just over 5 it may just be hormones not quite hit the 2-3 margin yet or took longer to implant... everyone is different and every pregnancy is different too. Also, the leaflet says if you are over 6 weeks the weeks indicator could give unexpected results (I think this is due to hormones being so high) so for you that could also be the case. I know for sure I should be measuring at least 8 weeks on a scan as I got my first positive test over 5 weeks ago so not looking good for me. I have unfortunately been through this before so know what to expect but with Covid thrown in I think the process may be drawn out even more when it comes to EPU X

@MrsTD88 yes I know what you mean, I'm definitely not over 6 though so hoping uts just late to turn to 2-3 weeks. I'm so sorry you've been through this before, please try hang on to some hope. I really do have everything crossed for you and that this will be a good outcome x

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2020 22:27

@Christie08 thank you, I have my fingers crossed for you too. Hopefully in a few days your test will change to 2-3 weeks and you can start to enjoy your pregnancy X 💕

Another update for anyone following. I contacted EPU yesterday and explained what was found on the private scan, the nurse was lovely and booked me in for a scan this morning. The sonographer was so kind and confirmed what was found on the private scan. A misshapen sac measuring 5+5. She also found a cyst on my left ovary, I explained I have pcos so that is not surprising. I have to do the usual two week wait and go back to confirm there has been no growth, I am 100% certain this will be the case. I am now considering my options meantime so I am prepared when I go back. The last time I went through this torture the medical management failed and ending up having to have surgical management.

Oh my love I'm so sorry. I haven't any experience of this but I just wanted to say I really feel for you. Life can be very cruel.

Rainbowm · 07/07/2020 11:53

@MrsTD88 so sorry to hear this I was really hoping you would have a positive outcome. I had a MMC in 2017 at 11 weeks pregnant, different circumstances to yours but I opted for surgical management as I just wanted it over and done with so I could start to heal physically and mentally and I honestly think that was the best option but it is down to personal choice . Sending you lots of love xx

MrsTD88 · 07/07/2020 12:24

@Flittingabout Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it X

@Rainbowm Thank you and so sorry about your MMC. My previous MMC was in 2014 and I honestly wish I had opted for surgical management straight away as the medical management was just not for me. If nothing happens over the next two weeks I think surgical management will be my first choice this time. I am very fortunate to have had a successful pregnancy in 2016 but it certainly does not make this hurt any less. Xx

So sorry to read this 😔

MrsTD88 · 10/08/2020 10:06

Thought I would update this for anyone following... I went for my follow up scan on 21 July and the scan unexpectedly showed some growth but no heartbeat, sac still very irregular and just too far off from my dates to be viable in my eyes. However because there had been a change the sonographer wanted me back in 14 days, doctor reccomended 10 days would be fine. So back in again on 03 August, scan showed no change and the sonographer confirmed a missed miscarriage. The nurse began the process of scheduling me in for MVA this week (12 August) and we discussed cremation/internment, whether I want a memory box etc. However she advised that a doctor would have to sign this off as it had only been 12 days since my last scan not 14! After waiting around for hours the doctor confirmed she wanted me in for another scan, so yet again more waiting around for the inevitable! I am now booked in for a (hopefully) final scan tomorrow. I should then have my bloods done in preparation for the MVA procedure on Wednesday. I should be 15 weeks tomorrow, this has been going on for weeks and just so drained 😔

You poor thing @MrsTD88 that’s been a long road for you 😞 Hopefully tomorrow things can be confirmed and you can be on the road to recovering! Thinking of you Flowers
