MMC symptoms

I know that’s sounds a bit bonkers, but are there any ladies on here that have had MMCs and after diagnosis thought ‘that makes sense’ like a drop in symptoms or anything?

I’m having a panic and have pretty much convinced myself that my little embryo has stopped growing, every single symptom I had (around 3.5-4 weeks) has disappeared and just fearing the worst, I’m only five weeks. I know I’m probably mad to think that

I’ve just had a MMC. No change in symptoms at all, although symptoms definitely were not as intense as previous pregnancies. Only reason it was picked up as having regular scans due to spotting which I’ve had in previous pregnancies. A friend of mine had symptoms that disappeared overnight and baby is still growing happily weeks later.
Keeping fingers crossed that all is well with your little bean

Yes, my symptoms wore off at around 9 weeks. I remember going away on holiday thinking wow, I don’t feel so sick anymore- what a treat! I actually thought the placenta was taking over after googling so didn’t worry about it. I had no bleeding or cramps at all but went for 12 week scan and the heartbeat had stopped at 9 weeks.

With my first MMC I didn’t have any symptoms at all really but I wasn’t worried because I’d had a successful pregnancy with no symptoms too. I had brown spotting at 11 weeks which prompted me to get a scan and I discovered the heartbeat had stopped at 7 weeks. I didn’t have cramps or red bleeding at all though.

Complete lack of symptoms and I started to have brown spotting at 11 weeks

1st MMC at 9 weeks - I had a tiny bleed which everyone in my ante natal group on here told me was normal. I went to EPU the morning just to check things out but I wasn't overly worried. TBH I found it more of an excuse to see our baby early. But baby had died only a day or two before according to measurements.

2nd MMC at 9 weeks - I felt things weren't right but symptoms remained except boobs weren't quite as tender towards the end. Had several scans where baby just didn't seem to be growing well but they kept telling me my dates were obviously wrong (I knew they weren't). Final scan at emergency gynae and they asked me why I had come for a scan as we'd already seen a heartbeat. But agreed to date the pregnancy for me. Then when baby had clearly died, they apologised.

3rd MMC also at 9 weeks - Nothing to suggest there was a problem. We'd even had a scan at 8 weeks and saw a lovely heartbeat and size was spot on for dates. I asked to be scanned again at 9 weeks given our experience so far and they booked me in for a 'reassurance' scan. Baby had died, once again, only a day or two before the 9 week scan.

I'm now pregnant again and, at 16 weeks, things are going really well so far (fingers crossed)

Hi ladies

So sorry for all your losses FlowersFlowersFlowersFlowers

Thank you for the replies and the information. I’ve had a complete loss of symptoms, I just don’t remotely feel pregnant but no bleeding or anything. I know it can be normal to lose symptoms but can also be a sign of bad things! I’ll be booking a private scan for two weeks

@Frazzlerock I’ve been following your post and so pleased everything is going well so far, congratulations! You’re so strong xx

Thank you @BingerGiscuit. I'm wishing you so much luck. It's such a scary time. I've everything crossed for you xx

I had a mmc, I only had breast growth as a symptom, they were hard and visibly bigger, this went and I knew, this was at about 7.5 weeks, I could never locate the heart beat with a doppler but I could pick up placenta sounds, I didnt start spotting till 10 weeks, then at 11 weeks the spotting turned to blood gradually getting worse, placenta sounds on doppler had changed and it was obviously failing or coming away. Eventually had miscarage at 12 weeks. I knew from the moment I saw the positive test it wouldn't end well, I cant explain why.

BingerGiscuit · 12/06/2020 18:18

@Persiaclementine oh my god that’s so awful. So sorry for your loss.

I’ve pretty much convinced myself it’s stopped growing. Zero symptoms now, all cramping gone, all twinges gone, no nausea or anything. I hope I’m wrong but there’s nothing telling me I’m pregnant anymore Sad

@BingerGiscuit I could have written this post myself. I’m 6weeks today and my symptoms have stopped. I’ve booked in for an early scan but can’t see things ending the way we’d expected. I hope your scan went well?

disconnecteddrifter · 19/07/2020 08:29

I had 5 and each time different. 2 of them I woke up and didnt feel sick and tired anymore around 6 weeks. Went for a scan last week at 8.5 as all my symptoms had disappeared for 4 days and I had brown discharge and went in hoping to book a d and c and the baby was going strong measuring ahead by 2 days. Since then symptoms have returned on and off so I think you need to have a scan. You just cant know otherwise.

Kat92 · 19/07/2020 09:06

My first pregnancy ended in a MMC - it was my first so I didn't really know what to expect. At my booking in appointment I did mention that I didnt feel "different" or "pregnant" though. I am now just over 8 weeks pregnant again and I definitely feel more tired and sick than last time. However, some people just dont get many symptoms.

BingerGiscuit · 19/07/2020 11:18

@Boredinthehouse12 I’d forgotten I’d written this post as feels like ages ago already! My fears were all for nothing! (So far!) I had a scan at 7 weeks and saw a heartbeat - it was magical. I sobbed!
Then had another private scan 2 weeks later and the baby had grown from a blob to look like a proper baby! It was wriggling away like mad, it was wonderful. I have my 12 week scan bang on 12 weeks and it is an anxious wait in between but nothing I can do about it!
My symptoms have been up and down so much but I’m learning to be calm about it rather than worry each time Smile
Good luck for your scan, it’s so easy to say but try to relax Smile I really have learnt how much symptoms fluctuate, enjoy the days when they’re less bad! Hope it goes well for you x

Thank you for your responses ladies. Someone from the EPU is going to give me a call tomorrow morning

EllieCoops · 20/07/2020 17:50

Hi ladies, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread? I’m 10 weeks pregnant with my first and I’m so anxious of things going wrong! I’ve had such strong symptoms, nausea and sickness being the main one and tiredness which is still going strong. My sense of smell has suddenly gone back to normal today which I’m a little worried about as I’ve been unable to open the fridge or spices cupboard for days and today I’ve been able to do it fine, even though I’ve still got the tiredness and sickness symptoms, am I crazy to worry?! My scan isn’t for another 2 weeks :( part of me thinks I’m just being dramatic but it’s such a worrying time.

Boredinthehouse12 · 20/07/2020 18:26

@EllieCoops Im only 6 weeks but I spoke to a midwife on the phone about this earlier today. I told her I had lost all of my symptoms and was starting to panic. Fortunately she explained that it’s completely normal as long as it’s not accompanied by painful cramps or bleeding. Apparently it’s quite common.. after about 5 days of going MIA my symptoms are making a slow return

EllieCoops · 20/07/2020 18:39

@Boredinthehouse12bo Thank you so much, that will put my mind at ease at least for now!
So worrying not knowing what’s going on inside you, just counting down the days until my scan!
