Hi all,

I'm 28 with a 2.5 yo DD and I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant with DC 2. I'm driving myself crazy because so far my symptoms aren't as strong as they were with DD. Example, my boobs are a bit sore, whereas they were agony the first time around, I've been a tiny bit nauseous where I was sick all day before, etc

Pregnancy tests still nice and strong

Were your pregnancies the same symptom wise? Also did you show earlier? I've got a belly left over from DD and I'm worried about just looking fat for all of the pregnancy 😢

5 weeks is insanely early. I would be surprised if you were getting symptoms at all. Lots of people don't even know they are pregnant at 5 weeks. My symptoms really kicked in at 6.5 weeks with MS. Up to then I felt a little queasy but that was about it.

I am 19 weeks pregnant on DC2. This pregnancy has been very similar to DD .... I think. With this one I am paying less attention to be honest. I am spending my day running around after an 18 month old and WFH. But every pregnancy is different. It wont be the exact same each time. Its a different baby. Just take it as it comes and try not to overthink every symptom.

@SqidgeBum thanks for sharing, I am totally overthinking it, I know. I think it's partly because work are shielding me for 12 weeks and I'm scared of losing ithe baby and I'll have to go back early and explain why :(

Do you know if you are having a DD or DS?

First off, congrats on the pregnancy! The first trimester is the most anxious time.
So I have a similar story to yours. I am 27 years old and my DS is 3 years old and I am currently 6 weeks pregnant.

With my first pregnancy, I did not have too many symptoms, rather only and enlarge breast and same thing this time around.

Beginning week 5 (last week) I was worried because my breast weren't as sore as they were with my first, and I did not feel pregnant whatsoever, rather just bloated.

Now just within a week, my breast are aching and I feel a bit nauseous from time to time and I am CONSTANTLY running to the bathroom.

Pregnancy symptoms are notorious for coming and going as they please, so no need to worry too much. As long as you do not have any alarming symptoms such as excessive bleeding or period-like cramping, so should be more than fine.

Each pregnancy is different and I just try to see it as we are lucky that the symptoms aren't as bad as many others have it.

You’re only 5 weeks, it’s quite rare to have any symptoms that early on.

I’m pregnant for the second time and I remember at 6 weeks thinking ”I’m getting away with this” because I only had very mild nausea... Bam. 7 weeks full on hyperemesis for the second time around. In my first pregnancy my boobs got massive (literally grew three cup sizes in a few days) in the first trimester, this time around they’ve only started to balloon now at nearly 20 weeks. Different pregnancies are definitely very different.

WaitingForSeptember · 11/06/2020 19:42

I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant with my second and so far I've experienced much less symptoms than last time.

In my first trimester last time I had sore boobs, headaches, nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, severe constipation, & terrible acne on my torso.

This time... just a little tiredness basically.

There was less than a year between giving birth and getting pregnant again, so I wonder if my body just remembered how to do it more efficiently haha.

Temple29 · 11/06/2020 20:01

Congrats on your pregnancy. I’m 27+4 weeks pregnant with my second baby (DS is 14 months).

Totally different pregnancy for me this time. Much milder symptoms and I didn’t start showing until around 20 weeks. Even now I only have a small bump by comparison to my first pregnancy and both are boys. So could just be different for you this time!

DarcyParty · 12/06/2020 07:49

I'm being silly aren't I :)

Thank you everyone and congrats on your pregnancies :)

I had no symptoms on my second pregnancy. I was working full time and had a dd who was 1. I booked a private scan at 8 weeks to make sure everything was OK. Everything was perfect and she's now 10. On my 3rd I had no symptoms either and he is now 8 and was born 10lbs 8 and 8 dsys early. I feel I was just lucky.

Charlottejade89 · 12/06/2020 08:39

I'm 12 weeks pregnant with dc2 my dd is 23 months. I've had symptoms but no where near as bad as with my dd. With dd I had nausea all day every day and vomiting about 4 times a day, extreme tiredness, as in couldn't keep my eyes open most of the time, migraines, heartburn. This time I've had some nausea, tiredness and headaches for a few weeks but was only between 7 weeks and 10 weeks. I feel fine now. I have got a little bump already this time but I think alot if it is bloat as I've been craving carbs and fizzy drinks alot this time round. last time I didnt really have any cravings

BeMorePacific · 12/06/2020 09:44

I’d say my pregnancies are pretty similar, although I was showing earlier. I also have worse skin this time around. xx

kkr168 · 12/06/2020 10:56

1st pregnancy no symptoms, not much of a bump, lazy baby boy hardly ever kicked.
I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with my 2nd & it's been so different. My boobs grew overnight, they are so sore/sensitive, nausea, sickness, went off food, then went mad for food, headaches, exhausted but can barely sleep. I was convinced I was having a girl this time but nope it's another boy

DarcyParty · 12/06/2020 16:03

It's crazy how different pregnancies can be, so many variables! I've been referred to the maternity team who'll sort my booking in, starting to feel a bit real now!

How have the appointments been for everyone? Is it all done over the phone now?

I'm 7 weeks with my second DS is 14 months.
My symptoms are strong and very different to last time. I have permanent nausea and tiredness And a complete lack of appetite. All symptoms from week 5.
I think every pregnancy is different and some women have more symptoms than others.

RoseGoldEagle · 12/06/2020 20:29

I had bad morning sickness from 6 weeks with DD. With DS I was a bit queasy but never was actually sick once. Third time around I’ve had no sickness or queasiness at all. I thought this one must be a boy as I’d linked the more sick pregnancy with my daughter but this one is a little girl, so I think in my case I’ve just felt less symptoms with every subsequent pregnancy, not to do with the gender. I honestly wouldn’t worry at all OP, fingers crossed you have a nice easy pregnancy 😊

sarahc336 · 12/06/2020 20:47

Second pregnancy here, much less sick, no cravings so far but more moody, spotty and tired so my two pregnancies so far have been the polar opposite, I thinknits actually quite common. But like others have said it all tends to kick off in terms of sickness etc more around 6 weeks so maybe it's still to come xx

Spark27 · 12/06/2020 20:50

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm currently 24w pregnant with 2nd DD. My first DD is 2.5yrs.

Both pregnancies have been completely different. First seemed like a breeze. No issues (or nothing I remember). 2nd time round I've felt a lot more nauseous and tired, but I think half of it is tiredness of looking after a toddler. But I didnt feel anything at 5w. Probably didnt start to get morning sickness until about 8w+.

All pregnancies are different. I'd make the most of feeling ok x

RoseGoldEagle · 13/06/2020 08:44

From the dates alone it would be impossible to be sure. My saying Guy A is purely based on you saying you didn’t have sex with Guy B. If that’s changed slightly from an earlier version of this then I’d agree you should take a paternity test after the baby comes.

RoseGoldEagle · 13/06/2020 08:44

Posted this on the wrong thread sorry!!

DarcyParty · 13/06/2020 18:09

@rosegoldeagle no worries 😂

Well, I know I said I didn't have many symptoms, but I hadn't realised how short of breath and dizzy I've been the past few days. I didn't have these at all in my last pregnancy, but that's probably the extra couple of stone I'm carrying now BlushGrin
