Scan letter

Hey guys,

I've just called the maternity helpline to let them know I'm pregnant and they naturally wanted to know what GP surgery I'm registered at. It's a complicated one because when I moved in with my partner I didn't register at a new surgery as I like mine, I'm rarely ill and if I can I can use my parents address. Also we're moving soon back to that side of town so there's little point registering here then moving back. Midwife said she'll just ignore this as we'll be moving back before appointments begin but my scan appt will go to my parents house. It won't say scan on envelope but it will be a hospital letter. I'd rather not tell parents til 12 weeks if possible just in case so has anyone got any good ideas what I could tell them the letter is so they're not worried? I can easily collect the envelope and tell them not to open it

Smear test results/invitation.

Are they doing smear tests right now? It might work but I think my mum might guess

They are doing smears at the moment my step sister had hers last week :)

Yep my mum had a smear on Tuesday so they're definitely "back on".

I would be in the same position as still registered at my parents address (but still same area).

My Mum will mistakenly open my post because we also have the same first initial letters so only difference is Miss and Mrs.

Could you say you needed a tetanus or something like that? Or a vaccine in anticipation for a foreign holiday?

I'm a bit concerned it might have a hospital stamp on it. My mum is a healthcare pro tho not in hospital so she'll know that smear tests happen in the doctors rather then hosp around here etc. Just going to have to hope for the best I think. It wouldn't be end of the world if she knew before, it's just not really my style to tell anyone beforehand. Thank you so much for the advice everyone

None of mine had any hospital stamp on, neither have any midwife letters.

You could just say that they're happening in hospitals at the moment because gps are trying to reduce footfall into the surgery if she queries it? 💕
