Looking For Reassurance!!

Hi all, I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant, I had a gender scan a 14 weeks. I have been out buying lots of stuff and now I keep having dreams that it’s the opposite sex!! Anyone else had this? I’ve uploaded a potty shot if anyone knows what they are looking at please feel free to say what sex you think it is I now regret having the scan as it might have been to soon!

I have to be honest I can’t make head nor tail of the pic but 14 weeks is very early for a fender scan. I thought private scans would o lay do them from 16 weeks and even then there’s no guarantees

Thankyou char2020 I’m same can’t work the pic out the place I went to does gender scans from 14 weeks. She also said she was very certain on the gender. I’ve got my 20 weeks scan in 2 weeks so hopefully will put my mind at rest

I wouldn’t rely on a sonographer’s view of your baby’s sex at 14wks, unless it was as the result of a blood test. Too early to be certain.

I agree that 14 weeks seems especially early and won’t be as reliable. If she said she was ‘very certain’ I’m assuming she told you it was a baby boy as girls can be harder to identify earlier on? I think it still would be hard to tell. Hope you get reassurance you need in the next scan xx

Most places say from 16 weeks onwards so I wouldn't rely 100% on anything you were told at 14 weeks (especially if you were told girl). I had a private scan at 17 weeks and it was very clear for me to see the sex, even before the sonographer opened her mouth.

Of course the sonographer has a 50% chance of being right at 14 weeks but, personally, I'd be holding off buying too much until my 20 week scan.

@xxmrsbxx in that case, I'd be even less inclined to believe it yet.
My friend was told girl at 2 different scans and ended up giving birth to a healthy baby boy. Apparently mistakes are more common this way round (and i'd imagine even more so at only 14 weeks when the genitals only start forming then anyway)

I found out my son was a boy at 24 weeks. He had a dangly sausage shape lol.

That should say 14 weeks

They say the fork shape is female that you have on the scan. They can do scans at 14 weeks.

I was told that's definitely a boy as I've never seen those parts of a women by the whitty sonogrammer. He's also a doctor's. It was done through Bradford studios.

Thankyou Daisyxxchainxx a couple of friends had 14 week gender scans at the same place She was accurate with theirs but I’m just really anxious as 14 weeks does seem a bit early

I think the scanning machines are so advanced now. I waited to get it confirmed at 20 weeks and he was still a he. I only got white. Worst case she's wrong. Sell the outfits on eBay. But she's very likely correct. They have alot of expereince. X

Thanks, I’ve got receipts for things I’ve bought so will just exchange for blue if she was wrong. I should have just waited until my 20 week scan before I bought anything but I got carried away online in lockdown 🙈

It's ok lol. Just enjoy and they are usually right. We was laughing at the screen because it was a huge winky shape. Congratulations. When is your next scan?
