Gestational diabetes labour snacks!

I've just been diagnosed with GD at 36+3 so I need to rethink my labour snacks. Has anyone got any good ideas of food that doesn't need to be refrigerated but shouldn't spike my blood sugars...?

You need fibre, protein and fats to have a more gentle rise in blood sugar, so you’re looking at whole grains, whole fruits/veg. Nuts are good source of protein and fats. Oatcakes with nut butter (peanut/almond). Roasted chickpeas are quite easy to make or you can buy. Personally, I don’t like it but jerky could be a good option. Carrot sticks will be fine outside a fridge even if they start to go a bit floppy. You could also make your own low-sugar flapjacks with jumbo oats, nuts and seeds and minimal dried fruit. Maybe search for diabetic-friendly snacks, and remember the body can’t tell the difference between sugar and ‘healthier’ syrups like maple/agave.

Small bags olives
Baby bel cheese
Ham slices
Peanuts , cashews etc
Dried peas

Good luck :)
