6 weeks and bleeding?

We’ve been trying to conceive our first child for about 18 months (was on the depo injection), we’d finally got referred to a fertility clinic which closed due to the corona pandemic, but luckily I found out I was expecting exactly two weeks ago today 🙌🏻 However, I started bleeding on Sunday (6 days ago) and it hasn’t really stopped, it was bright red to begin with that night and then murky brown the next day but I did have some small clots which my partner reckons it was from overnight. We’d called my local Dr and we ended the phone call feeling like we got no answers, as he basically it could be or couldn’t be, you’ll have to wait for your 12 week scan. We called our local hospital and spoke to epu, they said give it a week and take a pregnancy test, if it’s positive call on Monday (two days away) and they’ll book an 8 week scan, she did say if it weren’t for corona they get me in for a reassurance scan (thanks corona) but they may not see much, over the last week it’s gone from murky brown to dark red and back to brown again, mostly spotting but sometimes a little heavier but not enough to fill a pad, We were looking around at private scans and no where did any, we finally found a place and they had a space the next day but it was over an hour away, after so many breakdowns during the week we did not care and drove all the way to get there for 9am, she told us how worried she was about doing it as we may not get an answer due to how early we were, but to our amazement (and tears) we saw the sac and the baby (more of a blob but baby to me) and we saw their little heartbeat blinking away on the screen. We came away very excited, the dr did recommend we go for the 8 week scan as she could see the blood, I barely had any spotting yesterday until the evening where it went red again, and this morning it was more like black with a clot in it, my Nan reckons it could be where the dr has done an internal and disturbed the womb a little bit
I feel more assured now I’ve seen a heart beat but can still the paranoia and fear every time I go to the loo, has anyone else had any bleeding like this?

Hi, sorry to hear about this, it must be very stressful. I can't really help I'm afraid but just wanted to say I've read so much on here about early bleeds and positive outcomes, so keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you x

Paranoidfreak18 · 07/06/2020 17:31

Thank you, I’ve been reading so many conversations on here and feeling a little more reassured about it now, hopefully in 8 months I can come back to this thread x

And I have also heard that chances are much better once a heartbeat is seen, so wishing you all the best!x

Sadly I’m at the end with mine, I went for the 12 week scan yesterday at 13 weeks and they couldn’t find a heartbeat, they said it was roughly about 10-11 weeks it had gone, no symptoms, no bleeding at that point, nothing, returned to the hospital today to take the tablets as local anaesthetic and the suction thing just frighten me, and the idea of waiting it out now I know is just heartbreaking, just waiting for it to pass now. Hopefully when we try again we’ll have better luck. I wish all future mums the best, and maybe avoid internals if you can, as the 8 week scan left me so sore unlike the 6 weeks scan I’d had done, or at least go private and research who you’re with

I'm so sorry, this must be heartbreaking. Be kind to yourself during your recovery xx

I don’t know if anyone could help
I ended up getting pregnant straight away (or what we thought could’ve been a pregnancy, the Dr said it was highly likely) and miscarried again at 6 weeks, had a scan that day and she didn’t find any sac so she thought it was a miscarriage. I’m possibly under the impression it could’ve been leftover from the mmc, as I didn’t pass any membrane like the first time round just clots and a lot of bleeding (TMI sorry!) I know it sounds silly, think it’s my head trying to get round it
We have been so careful this time round, and it’s coming up to four weeks, I never thought I’d be half praying for a period as I’m starting to get symptoms (sore boobs, cramps, but I get this for both pregnancy and period)
I’m not taking a test until I’m at least 2 weeks late, I think not knowing would be better than panicking again, but has anyone kept a pregnancy straight after 2 miscarriages? I have taken so much time to enjoy myself the last few weeks, I didn’t think I’d feel this way again

I’m 7 weeks and had an early scan a week and a half ago privately like you. There was a heartbeat which was reassuring but I have had brown discharge on and off for a few weeks.

I actually do think the bleeding came from the scan as it was internal, and whenever we have sex. It alWays seems to coincide with brown discharge for a few days.

It is worrying but I just have to remind myself that spotting can happen due to changes in the cervix or irritation from scans and sex.

Hello Cafe
I’m glad all went well at the scan, yes that could be likely, I don’t want to make more nerves for you but I actually ended losing my baby at 13 weeks from mmc, it had stopped growing at 10/11 weeks, I’d had a six weeks scan and an 8 week scan where both showed ok, but sadly it wasn’t so, I then fell pregnant again without trying but lost again at 6 weeks. That was almost four weeks ago now, just waiting for a cycle so I can begin again
Fingers crossed for you, it doesn’t sound like how mine was, mine was quite heavy the first day then slowed down and picked up if I did anything even the slightest bit strenuous, going from brown to red

@Paranoidfreak18 I’m sorry to hear that you went through that ☹️ Sounds awful. How’s everything going for you this time? Sorry if you’ve already said, I’m finding it hard to keep up with everyone!

Yeah my discharge is still light brown / yellow colour. I’m now seeming to have a bit of a symptom surge which I hope is a good thing, just really tired and have a headache, feel a bit spaced out and my balance is appalling!

Planning to mention to the midwife at my booking appointment tomorrow but I doubt I will get a scan - I called the epu yesterday and they said to just call back if it turned red or got heavier. Xxx

I sadly am waiting for a cycle at the moment, I’d lost the second at 6 weeks, so waiting for a cycle so I can date it and hopefully allow the womb to heal from the first two

It’s good to have symptoms, it’s the first thing they asked me when they were suspecting miscarriage with my second. My finger are so crossed for you ☺️ Is this your first child?

Hi, I had a healthy pregnancy (my son is 2) and then two miscarriages.

My last miscarriage was in feb and we conceived in may cycle and I am 23 weeks pregnant now. I still don't feel safe now and won't till 30 weeks. It's nerve wracking.

I wanted to reply as although it still early days, we have managed to get halfway.

Life you said - we waited two cycles to try and let my womb recover before the next try.

I have to say the first 12 weeks were very stressful but it is getting easier now to try and hope that maybe this will end with a beautiful little boy.

Good luck ladies

Hi, just a small update now
The spotting had stopped about a week later, as long as everything’s alright I should be 9 weeks and 4 days today. I’m getting symptoms like sore boobs and (sorry for the tmi) constipation and there is a slight bump there (I’m guessing where I’ve carried to 13 weeks before its showing earlier) I did cave in and called my local early pregnancy unit to see if I could get a reassurance scan (they said I could have one after the second loss, to help keep me calm and double check) but because Covid is ripe in my area and the bleeding has stopped they have said they won’t do it, I’ve looked at private but all the dates are booked for weeks 10-11 (where I’d lost my first but carried till 13 weeks when I had my scan appointment) and I haven’t had my scan appointment through yet for this one
I understand I’m probably just being silly but I think my anxiety is going to go through the roof if they book me in for a 13 week scan in January, it’s just getting over weeks 10-11 and I think I’d calm down, but I’m a mess about going in on my own at 13 weeks. So I think I will keep trying to look at private scans just to settle my nerves. I hope everyone’s doing well, and everyone is keeping safe x
