Upset - 36 week and being sent for scan

Someone please tell me a positive story

Just been for my 36 week appointment at the birth centre. All previous measurements have been bang on the middle centile line and absolutely fine. Until today.

It was a different midwife and she told me 'well he's certainly not small' and measured him to now be above the top line and sending me for a growth scan.

Has anyone else had this? What was your outcome?

I'm only 5'2 so part of me just thinks baby has no room in there but part of me also knows how bad my diet has been (all I've craved is sweet foods) so could have contributed to him being bigger.

Stories please, I'm feeling very emotional and upset about it right now :(

I don’t understand why you are upset. Big babies are a source of maternal pride. Hormones?
I had a c section because dc1 was allegedly 9.13 and could be a pound heavier. Dc1 was 8.6. I’m also 5’2”. I don’t think it occurred to me to feel upset that a mw thought my baby was big. I was just excited to get extra scans and more looks. I got a look every other day in the last two weeks before they decided to section. The scans are notoriously unreliable though Grin

I had it the other way round. Measuring accurate but at 36 weeks measurements slowed & concerns with growth. Had scan told baby would be approx 8lb at 40 weeks. Induced at 40 weeks as still measuring small & baby was 8lb.
Try not to worry, best to be checked

I was huge with all my babies and everytime they measured. Growth scans showed them to be on the small side. When born all where near 8lb and perfectly healthy.

Scans including growth scans are notoriously inaccurate. Most babies slow down their growth rate as due date nears also. Don't stress. You'll be fine. My baby was predicted to be 8lbs (pretty normal) she was 6.15.
