Bleeding for a week

Hi. I'm just looking some advice and reassurance.
I am 5+5 weeks and started bleeding 5 days ago.. this is still ongoing although it is very light and brown in colour. Is it normal to bleed for this long?

I rang epu and due to coronavirus they are not taking anyone in to be scanned and said they will check up on me next week.

I booked a private scan for Saturday as I am worrying too much. Has this ever happened anyone else and had a healthy pregnancy?

Hi OP, sorry you’re going through this Flowers

I’m 4w with my second pregnancy, first ended in early MC in February. At the time I was having spotting and came to Mumsnet to read experiences and ask questions - what I found was all outcomes - many ladies post on here about experiencing bleeding and spotting during pregnancy and go on to have healthy babies, and sadly others experience bleeding which results in MC. I have definitely read about positive results after bleeding so try to remain calm and positive (I know how hard this is though) and I hope Saturday brings good news x

@minesalatte thank you for replying. I am trying to be hopeful.
I'm sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage.. with this were you bleeding lightly at the start?

I think it’s good to be hopeful, but also aware it might not be a good outcome, so you’re mentally prepared.

I didn’t have bleeding as such, I had brown and pink discharge. I had no cramping either but I think that’s down to it being early.

All the best for Saturday x

@minesalatte how long did this last with you?

Hi, I'm going through the same thing at the moment, rang the EPU and they won't see me because I'm under 8 weeks so I've just got to monitor it. It's not been heavy bleeding just really when I wipe, and a bit of spotting, it's now more or less stopped but I took a clear blue digital and the weeks have gone from 2-3 to 1-2 so I'm confused? This is my first pregnancy so I'm totally clueless! I would put myself at about 5 weeks.
It's really frustrating that they won't see me because I'm stuck at home (furloughed) and just over thinking everything!
I hope we get a good result!! Loads of luck to you x

MinesALatte · 04/06/2020 14:59

@Hopefulmummie it lasted about three days, then stopped, then four days later I had more brown discharge four more days and then I came on Sad

Hopefulmummie · 04/06/2020 15:01

@rbetty that's sounds similar to mine it is very light but still worrying. I took a digital test week and half ago and it was 1-2 weeks and I took another one yesterday hoping it would be 3 but it's still 1-2 although I done it in the afternoon so hoping that's why.
Would you consider booking a private scan +

rbetty · 04/06/2020 17:14

There's no where by me I can get a private scan I'm very rural so would have to travel. I just don't know what to do 🤷🏼‍♀️
Everyone is just saying wait, but waiting is the worst part! I was told to hang fire and call back on the 22nd.
I've seen a lot of threads about the clear blue week indicator saying it's not accurate and you should just go with the "pregnant" and go from your last period on how many weeks.
When you see all the lovely adverts about getting pregnant you never see the nitty gritty that comes with it! It's all so confusing

Hopefulmummie · 04/06/2020 17:46

@rbetty that's sad you can't get a scan.
The midwife from epu rang me again to basically say I just have to sit tight but it's good that I got a positive pregnancy test yesterday

I read another thread were lots of women had the same type of bleeding so feel a bit more positive but can't help have a doubt.

When will your 1st scan be?

OP posts:
rbetty · 04/06/2020 17:52

I have no idea when my scan will be, the midwife was so unhelpful. She just said ring back on the 22nd June and we can book you in. I would imagine it would be second week of July?
I'm finding it very difficult to get any info because everyone telling me to wait!
This site is fab mind...much better than dr google 🙈

Hopefulmummie · 04/06/2020 17:53

@rbetty I've heard nothing about mine either I haven't been told when my booking appointment is either and I imagine this will be over the phone

Definitely is I would be lost without it

OP posts:
rbetty · 06/06/2020 02:38

I have have some sad news, I have lost. They suspected chemical pregnancy. They didn't even need to see me as I am not even in any pain. I was really hopeful! But I just got to think onwards and upwards! Just keep trying x

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 07:03

@rbetty I'm really sorry to hear this :( thinking of you.
Did your bleeding get heavier?

I have my scan today and I'm not hopeful

OP posts:
Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 07:17

@rbetty also how did they confirm it without seeing you?

OP posts:
rbetty · 06/06/2020 14:44

I've tested negative. They said if I'm worried I can go to gp/ hospital. But as I'm not in any pain, bleeding or fever then they say it was probably chemical.
It pisses me off a bit as they said they don't see anyone under 8 weeks, it would have been nice to at least be checked. But they said A&E if I really want to but I don't.
They sent me a leaflet about "self management with miscarriage"
I hope your scan is ok.
I ended up having more like a period bleeding in the end then it just stopped suddenly.
I didn't notice any big clots or anything which confuses me.

Hopefulmummie · 06/06/2020 14:56

I'm sorry to hear that. It's annoying they won't scan before 8 weeks you are entitled to proper answers.

I had my scan this afternoon and they done a normal ultrasound and nothing showed up with isn't surprising as I'm only 6 weeks they said they would do an internal scan on 2 weeks but really they should've done one today from what I've read.
So no clearer

I'm 10 weeks and have had brown spotting for about a week. The midwives say it's not a cause for concern unless it turns red and/or I have pain. I did have some brown spotting at this time in my last pregnancy too and everything was fine. I'm just waiting for my 12 week scan as I don't want to go in unnecessarily and there isn't much they can do if I have lost the baby. But it is stressful and I can imagine that you must be climbing the walls a bit.
