Hi all,

Am currently 40+4 l, I had a midwife appointment on Monday and was told my cervix was high, very soft and closed and a sweep couldn’t be performed.

Yesterday I was in triage following reduced movements (baby is fine) but they checked my cervix again as I reported some aches and pains and my cervix was very soft and 1-2cm dilated so the midwife performed a sweep (horrible).

The sweep was at 5:30pm and since then I’ve had some really uncomfortable lower back pain which is radiating to my legs and I’ve been having the odd sharp pain low down and having brown discharge sorry for TMI.

My question is - could this be the start of something? Would love to hear others experiences xx

TIA XX

When I had my sweep at 40+3 I was 1 cm dilated. I then had cramps all through that day and the next and was in proper labour with regular contractions by the night of 40+4 and had her on 40+5 so it's sounding like what I went through so fingers crossed. I'd get out for a walk/on your ball to try keep things progressing xx

Oh and I started with blood/brown discharge straight after my sweep so sounds promising xx

Thank you ladies! Interesting to know! I was in the bath at 5am today just for some relief on my back!
My parents have said about picking me up this afternoon (wearing masks) and taking me for a walk on flat ground as I live in a very hilly area and hubby is working.

Just so anxious to get her out now! I’m so bored at home I am actually organising my husbands tool box 😓

Thank you though for your responses xxx
