AMBY NATURES NEST - ARE THEY ANY GOOD?

I've got a week old baby who WILL JUST NOT settle in her crib. Last night it took until 4:30am for her to settle, she's still asleep now. The night before it took until 6! AAAAAAAAAARGH! I've heard that the Amby Natures Nest is very good for comforting babies. Can I have some opinions please? It's a big investment, but maybe a small one if it means we can get some NEEDED sleep!!

I don't know the answer to this one, Hope, but am interested to find out so am bumping for you!

Yes, they are good, much better than a regular cot I think. In our case though dd2 rapidly worked out that sleeping in large warm bed with parents in was better still. But it was still worth having.

They do only last 12 months max though so at that point you will have to make a transition to traditional flat mattress anyway. However they are easy to sell on seeing as they dont pick up much wear and tear in only a year of use, so you shouldn't lose too much money on one.

My DH drove to Birmingham yesterday to buy one!!! GOOD INVESTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

DD slept from just after midnight until about 5, then she woke again at 8 for another feed!

that sounds like an instant result then!

Wish I had known about them for dd1! dd2 is a great sleeper though.

I got one for DS2 who is 10 weeks and he seems to enjoy it... he didn't get on with his moses basket at all but settles in his hammock. I can put him in awake in the evening and after night feeds and he goes to sleep by himself so no pacing the floor for me . Worth it I would say and they sell for a lot on e-bay so I'm hoping I'll get more than half the amount I paid for it back. Even if I didn't I think I'd pay £140 for good sleep for 12 months (or however long it will last - I've heard it may not go beyond 9 months)

What is this Amby Natures Nest? Iv never heard of them, and what do they do? (or claim to)

I am watching a few on EBAY. Was hoping to get one locally as it was collection only, but the seller then decided that they would post it outr after all and it went for more than my max price.

I love the look of these! Just wondering thouhg...I assume that, the same as any cot, you would have to get a new mattress if you got a second hand one? So to buy a 2nd hand one you would have to get it for less than £115 to then allow for £25 mattress.....

Hopey - I have one and not to jinx anything, but is fantastic! get one!

Honest feedback is that if my LO is really restless, this doesnt settle him because if he wants to be held then that is that. But if he is happy and content, then he goes down a treat and sleeps much longer than he does in the moses. I use the moses for the daytime naps and amby for nighttime.

they also collapse really easily - so can also be used when travelling.

So are they a substitute for cots then?

yes, but just for sleeping in ifyswim. They cant sit up and play in them.

I used mine with DS2. I found it was great in his first few months as it was really easy to resettle him if he woke in the night - just give it a little jiggle and it bounces up and down gently. Great for keeping them swaddled too. But I think I only used it for 3 or 4mths - but he was a very active baby who turned out to be an early mover and therefore found it too restrictive to be in any longer. I bought mine 2nd hand on ebay so it didn't break the bank and I have kept it for DC3 who I am expecting next year. They use them in those parenting support places around here and also recommend them for small babies and premmies.

feedmenow- I bought a second hand one through for sale section on MN (havent used it yet- LO due in 4 wks)... but I took the 'mattress' apart and washed the outer bit in the washing machine... and then the other bit is just a piece of foam which you could replace. I wouldnt bother buying a new mattress via amby. I have bought some new sheets though and a snuggler bit for newborn. I paid £75 delivered from a lovely MNer. Really looking forward to using it.

Am slightly confused... I thought we were supposed to let babies lie flat? Not seen one of these before.
