Transverse lie baby

So my baby has been in transverse position since midwife started to examine my stomach at 28 weeks. I'm now 31 weeks and still in same position. I have a scan booked at hospital next week anyway as placenta was low lying at my 20 week scan, so hopefully they'll be able to look more deeply into why he's in this position if he still is by next week.

However, how likely is it that he is to remain in transverse lie as he has been for 3 weeks already (that I know of) also my bump has dropped loads over the last week is this because he's in a transverse position? I've attached a photo of this morning and another that was took when I was 28+5.

What was everyone else's experience with transverse babies and what am I to expect if he doesn't move by next appointment at 34 weeks? Thank you

My baby was breech at 31 weeks and transverse at 34 weeks. I have another appointment at 36+5 and the midwife said if she's still transverse or breech then they'll do a presentation scan and then I guess offer the ECV (which I'll probably refuse) or a date for a c section. I think up until 34/35 weeks then can still turn.

If you really want a vaginal birth I'd have a look at the spinning babies website?

As above - they often still move and usually it’s not too much of a worry until 35/36 weeks. However - sometimes there is a reason for transverse lie, it may be that your placenta hasn’t moved at all and that’s causing baby to lie that way- you’ll be referred to an obstetrician fri further discussion if that’s the case when you have your scan. Good luck :)

Quite a lot of babies don’t turn head down until 34/35/36 weeks. I wouln’t really pay much attention to that this stage.

Following as my baby has been transverse for ages and I'm 29 weeks now. She does sometimes move but just flips so she's still sideways but the other way haha

Check out the Spinning Babies website, has loads of useful information on positions to get into to try to spin baby if baby is breech/transverse/back to back etc! You still have plenty of time for the baby to turn as its still early days but I would start doing some of the recommended positions and activities to encourage baby along.
