Scotland How long for NT results?

Hi. I am actually at the RAH in Paisley but wondering how long the NT tests are taking right now. I am 3 weeks since my bloods and the scan and still not heard a thing. I am 41 so worried about it as higher risk for chromosomal abnormalities etc. and can't believe it is taking so long. They said it might be 4 weeks! I will be 17 weeks when I get the results which is very worrying.

I'm in Scotland, think mine took just over 3 weeks but I took that as a good thing. If there's anything picked up in the bloods you would get a phone call a few days later. It seems to be the actual letter that takes a long time - mine came from my consultant so looks like the results went to her and then sent out to me.

If you're worried I'd give your midwife a call, but I'd say not hearing from them is positive :)

Hey.

I am at the Glasgow Princess Royal and got my NT tests at my 12 week appointment about 4 weeks ago now. Haven’t heard a thing - but the nurse who took my bloods did say that they can take up to 3 weeks and that we would get a call if the results came back “high risk”.

I have my 16 week appointment next Wednesday, so I’ll be asking then but I’ll keep you updated.

No news is good news I guess x

@Sheera1 I’m also in Scotland and was told I’d receive a call within 3 days if classed as high risk and that ‘no news is good news’. Got my letter through in about 3 weeks (this was a few weeks ago now though so not sure how long they’re taking at the moment).

Also worth mentioning...my letter just said Low Risk...there were no figures or anything which I was interested to know so I phoned the results line on the letter and she was able to give the full results with no issues. I think every area gives the results differently but just incase you find yourself with just a high/low letter 😊 fingers crossed you get them soon! It’s an awful wait!

Thanks all. I think that makes sense that if it was high risk I would have been told by now. Fingers crossed massively. I texted my midwife on Friday to ask if she had heard anything or could look them up but no reply 😭.

I am equally panicking a bit as the NIPT private test has now failed twice (more accurate than NHS) and that can be an indicator of something wrong chromasomally. Obvs I am trying not to freak out. I might try and call her later if still no reply. I just thought mayne it was taking the lab this length of time so might still be bad news as they just haven't processed mine yet. X

I’m in the Lothians. I haven’t had the test yet but asked midwife about this - she said results take about a week but post has been slow since covid. She said if I didn’t receive a letter or a call then I could phone midwife line to ask for results after the week.
