8 week ultrasound? Will I hear the heartbeat?

I booked a private 8 week scan, can you actually hear the heartbeat at an 8 week scan or do only see it flicker on screen? Or does it depend?

(Obviously I know this is dependent on everything being okay with the pregnancy 🤞)

I had an early scan at what I thought was 8 weeks. I measured 6+2 instead. Could see a tiny, flickering heartbeat, but couldn’t hear it.

Good luck! I think it depends on lots of factors.

We saw flicker on screen. No sound at any of the hospital scans we’ve had.

You should definitely be able to see it but I don't think many places in the UK allow you to hear it

As above. No sound just visual.

I had an early scan when I thought I was 7+5 but baby actually only measured 6+1 (I then went back for a follow up 2 weeks later and measured 8+2 at that one).

Thankfully I was able to see and hear the heartbeat both times but that wasn't UK so may be different here.

I heard the heartbeat at 6+1 - it sent me into a meltdown of happy tears, following missed miscarriage!

I had a private scan at about 8 and a bit weeks and the heart beat was so clear to see, I couldn’t believe it! Then without saying anything the ultrasound tech suddenly played us the sound which was so amazing. Hopefully you’ll get to hear & see yours! But don’t feel down if you don’t get to hear it, you’ll still be able to see your little one and you’ll hear it eventually at later scans.
At the hospital for my 12 week scan they didn’t have any sound, I don’t know why, maybe they just don’t do it there until later on.

Eeeek when’s your scan? I will have a scan Saturday and I will be 8+1.

I had a private scan at just under 8 weeks and we were able to hear the heartbeat but hospital scans since (I've had my 12 and 20 week ones) there was no sound. Good luck for your scan!

Private scan at 9 weeks, didn't get to hear the heartbeat but I could see it which was nice and reassuring.

My scan is on the 15th and I'll be 7+7 so hoping I get to see it clearly at-least even if I don't hear it! Super excited x
