Pregnancy

Feeling Very Rough

Hi All

I am just over 7 weeks pregnant and up until now I have been feeling quite good, the odd pulling twinge and sore boobs, but today...today I feel SO sick, tired and just drained.

It feels like the pregnancy bus has hit me hard! I still haven't told any friends and family yet so I guess I am using this to just "say it out loud" (sort of) and I suppose an element of "poor preggo me". My husband is back at work now and I am trying my best to work from home but just feeling terrible.

Anyone else feeling the same today?

I'm feeling sorry for myself with a tummy bug and trying very hard not to think how I could be pregnant after a slip up with DH a few weeks ago. It's DD's first birthday next week. I definitely get the woe is me feeling though.

Congrats on the pregnancy, make yourself a nice lunch or buy yourself some tempting snacks to eat little and often to try and settle your stomach.

sel2223 · 03/06/2020 10:30

Yep, I hear ya! Weeks 7-11 were by far the worst for me!
It's horrendous but it does pass, i promise 🙂

LexiM · 03/06/2020 10:44

I’m 21 weeks pregnant right now but I remember being at 7 weeks thinking pregnancy was awful and I never wanted to do it again already!

Stick in there and do your best to rest, for most people it will pass. I would say I felt more myself at 15 weeks and did have a gap without feel sick around 12-13 weeks. Eat little and often, i liked ginger biscuits and plain crisps. Try and drink water regularly too if you can and don’t go near the fridge!

DinkyMamma90 · 03/06/2020 10:46

Modestandatinybitsexy Oh no I really hope you feel better soon!! Tummy bugs are horrible!! lots of sympathy coming your way! Would you like another or are you sticking with one?

Thank you I think I will, I lack snacky bits as I haven't really felt sick yet so I will be sure to get some.

Ah thank you!! Makes me feel better knowing there should be some sort of end. It is so strange how it's just hit me, I love ginger biscuits so I will be getting some of those in! xxxxx

I had the exact same feeling dead on 7 weeks! Now 11+2 and the constant nausea and sickness still hasn't gone 😭 I'm hoping that it eases as I go into the second trimester like everyone says 🤞🏼hopefully you feel better soon!

stepbystepdoula · 03/06/2020 10:58

It can be really tiring as your body adjusts. Perhaps you may want to think about telling people, so they understand and can offer support 💚

KatieFTM · 03/06/2020 11:45

I hear you, 7 weeks hit me hard! Nausea at first and then sickness :( hang in, it does start to ease there are more good days than bad now.
I’m also 11+2 @Jasminex1and today is definitley a bad day, trying to work from home on the couch and dreaming of when this will ease properly so I can stop being a misery guts!x

Jasminex1 · 03/06/2020 12:07

@KatieFTM the bad days are so hard aren't they! Sometimes I just lay down all day because I feel like I'm going to be sick at any movement. I'm currently wfh too but have to sit at the table 😩 hopefully we'll feel better after the 12 week mark, not long now! Have you had any scans yet?x

EveningReflection · 03/06/2020 12:14

Week 6/7 is when it hit me too, pregnancy was a breeze before then as I didnt feel any different. Now im nearly 14 weeks and nothing is improving yet. Psychologically i had been dragging myself to 12 weeks hoping that things would improve, but no such luck. Ive been a non functioning human being for so long now, I forget what its like to not feel sick and tired 24/7. Trying to hold down food and water is really my only focus in life! Its good to hear that things will get better, it feels like a long road! Im sure its one we will all quickly forget when its behind us!

DinkyMamma90 · 03/06/2020 12:31

@stepbystepdoula I have been considering it, OH wants to wait until we have had our first scan but I am finding it hard, when we do zoom calls I can't seem to stay awake which is a giveaway in itself.

@Jasminex1 Oh no I am sure it will, lots of people seem to be saying the same thing about the second trimester, sending lots of hugs your way!!!!

DinkyMamma90 · 03/06/2020 12:34

@EveningReflection Yes, I was feeling quite smug about not feeling sick, regretting that smugness now! Hang in there, a friend of mine suffered sickness quite a way into her second trimester but it did go away, she found chicken nuggets helped her Grin

@DinkyMamma90 shame I'm a vegetarian :D

FT01 · 03/06/2020 12:37

I am so glad it’s not just me! I’m 7 weeks now and I feel rubbish! Constantly nauseous, constipated, I haven’t been sick yet but I think I’d feel some relief if I could be?? All smells make me feel sick! My main thought now though is how on earth have all the mums before me felt this bad and still gone to work?? I’m so happy to be working from home because at least I can feel like crap in my own space! I’m not sure if I’m just being unnecessarily wimpy about it all??

Jasminex1 · 03/06/2020 12:45

@DinkyMamma90 and to you!! To think I was wishing for the sickness to 'feel more pregnant' before it came - why!😂

@FT01 I've been thinking the exact same! If I wasn't working from home they would all 100% know already because I keep being sick during the day. And I also wonder how pregnant mums with children already do it, I can barely look after myself some days 🤣

KatieFTM · 03/06/2020 13:09

@Jasminex1 my emotions swing from at least I have good days, to but that makes the bad days SO much worse 🥴 Can’t win. I also felt smug at 6weeks still running and thinking it was a breeze, how I wish I hadn’t jinxed myself!
I had a Private scan at 9 weeks so my husband could be there, have you?
When is your nhs scan? Mines Tuesday 9th 😇 xx

Jasminex1 · 03/06/2020 13:14

@KatieFTM the best way to describe it is like it's a permanent hangover! Hopefully we have lots more good days soon 🤞🏼 my nhs is next week too! And also have a private scan Sunday so we can both be there, very exciting 😁 xx

DinkyMamma90 · 03/06/2020 13:15

@FT01 No way I agree, I honestly have no idea how I'd cope driving an hour to work everyday and working a full 8 hours. I am having to have short naps to try and make myself feel better! I am also currently sat in one of my OH long tee shirts because anything tight fitting makes me feel sick. Hang in there and hopefully you can work from home whilst you get through your first trimester.
Have you booked an appointment with the midwife yet?

OP posts:
FT01 · 03/06/2020 14:41

@DinkyMamma90 my midwife lives just down the road so she’s calling by tomorrow to do blood tests and have a chat - So I’ve got to clean my house now!! Sad Haha! How about you?
Just think, in January we will have our little bundles and will have forgotten week 7 rubbishness!!!

DinkyMamma90 · 03/06/2020 15:35

@FT01 Oh that is super handy but a pain that you have to do a deep clean. Don't think I'd have the energy so good luck! I am booked in next Thursday, the midwife won't see you until you are 8 weeks. I am abit nervous tbh, sound silly i know.

Honestly, I am so excited, I was a January baby and hoped that he/she would be born in Jan also.

@DinkyMamma90 my midwife was lovely and nothing to worry about Smile she gave me loads of time to ask questions and just put my mind at rest that everything happening right now is normal! Good luck for your appointment Flowers

EveningReflection · 04/06/2020 13:13

@FT01 ooh is that an NHS midwife? Ive only had a brief telephone call so far. However, i got to have a really good chat with the private midwife who did my NIPT. Makes me wonder if thats the kind of thing i would of got from the NHS in normal times.
