I'm going back into my office to work from tomorrow. There will only be 4 of us in the building as far as I know and desks have been moved around to accommodate social distancing. I'm only 17 weeks and the higher risk really only relates to third trimester so depending what is going on by the time I reach that point, I may potentially reassess.

WK29 · 31/05/2020 16:43

@Shanlou12 I think it very much depends on your job and how well they can make sure you’re able to social distance at work. I’m in non-essential retail and my bosses have given me the impression that it may be at least another couple of months before I’m back, if at all 🙈 and I’m not due until the winter!!

lockdownpregnancy · 31/05/2020 16:46

I work in residential property law and I've been furloughed for 10 weeks now. No sign of me going back anytime soon. My furlough ends in 2 weeks time and I would imagine they will furlough me until I go into maternity leave but who knows!
I'd love to go back but I think every sector is different! 🤷‍♀️

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/05/2020 16:47

Can’t we work at the moment?
I’m dying to go back to work- the issue with my work is the commute, no one wants to take the tube (pregnant or not). Tbh I feel fine travelling and would crave the opportunity to feel normal. Also working from home is killing my back!

Shanlou12 · 31/05/2020 16:50

I’m only 10+ 5 and have been furloughed for past 6 weeks!! But my job is a support worker for adults with learning disabilities where social distancing can be quite hard so I don’t see myself going back anytime soon Hmm

I've been on furlough since March 27th - due to end 30th June which is the week I'll enter my third trimester....plus I'm supposed to be taking holiday from mid July up until my maternity leave starts so I doubt they'll want me to work for just 2 weeks. I think they'll extend my furlough up until my holiday is due to start.

Which is a strange realisation - when I left the office I didn't realise I wouldn't be back for so long - I need to get some stuff from my desk if I'm not going to be there for over a year!

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 31/05/2020 16:55

I'm 32 weeks, been off now for 8 weeks. Not going back until after maternity leave Shock

LynseyLou1982 · 31/05/2020 17:09

I've been WFH since 16th March. I work in a University and we've been told it's a phased return to campus and office staff will be the last to return and not full time, WFH for a few days in the office a few days. It will be at least October by the time we return and I'm going on maternity leave on the 9th October so I doubt I'll be back.

hmfair54 · 31/05/2020 17:15

I'm 28 weeks, it looks doubtful that I'll be going back at all before mat leave at this rate

Carabu1 · 31/05/2020 18:49

I’m 1st trimester, and tbh I’m desperate to go back!! Not sure I will be though until autumn, and by then I’ll be 3rd tri, which is when the current guidance is more cautious, so who knows?! Obvs haven’t told employer yet so I’m just waiting and seeing. I’m lucky that I can wfh (and actually much of the time anyway) - but I’m missing even a day or two a week at actual work!!

Shefliesonherownwings · 31/05/2020 18:53

I think it really depends on whether you can work from home or not. I work in London and my office has been closed since march. I think it is doubtful the senior team will look at reopening until september because we are all able to work from home. I'm 17 weeks and my pregnancy is higher risk so I will be asking to stay working from home. Even if the office is rearranged to socially distance, I'm not keen on getting on the train or tube. In my opinion non essential office workers who can work from home will be the last ones to go back to work.

mobear · 31/05/2020 19:28

I’m 20 weeks and think I will be working from home until my maternity leave starts. I can work as well from home, and my hesitation to go into the office relates to the commute (London Underground). I’ve offered to drive in (at considerable personal expense) if needed but I don’t think it will come to that.

Hatepickinganame · 31/05/2020 19:39

Been back since may. 12 weeks now. Essential retail, key worker. They gave me 4 weeks off to avoid the peak and i could have had longer if id chosen to. Im happy to be back though.

Quail15 · 31/05/2020 19:54

I'm in the 1st trimester and haven't stopped working in A&E. The risks don't increase for otherwise healthy pregnancys until the 3rd trimester.

Shanlou12 · 31/05/2020 20:50

@Quail15 really Shock they haven’t asked you to stop going to work in A@lockdownpregnancy
I’m a support worker for adults with learning disabilities and I told my employer as soon as I found out I was pregnant for risk assessments and stuff as it can get quite aggressive in my work and the day after I told them I had a phone all to say I wasn’t allowed in work anymore due to being pregnant that was 6 almost 7 weeks ago. Ow haven’t heard anything about going back since 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm back at work tomorrow! I'm a primary school teacher and my school are back 5 days a week for my year group. I'm almost 24 weeks. I don't feel comfortable going back especially as I will be around so many adults and children.

BeHappyAndSmile · 31/05/2020 21:14

I've never stopped working. 20 weeks now and planning to carry on until a midwife or doctor tells me to stop. Received a shielding letter at the start of it all, spoke with my doctor and midwife and decided that despite that it was still fine to carry on working because the reasoning was overly cautious. As @Quail15 says there's not really an increased risk until later on and I'd go insane not being allowed to work!
