Hey, I just have a quick question. I am going to get the Mam bottles for feeding, I am also going to get the tommee tippee perfect prep machine. I was wondering if anyone using the same bottles had a recommendation for a steriliser? Thanks :)

I used the round MAM steriliser that you pop onto the microwave with some water in the bottom for 5 minutes. It fits 6 bottles if you pop the tops into the bottles and shimmy things around a little. I found it fantastic. All bottles sterilised in 5 minutes at the end of the day, no chemicals, easy.

In all honesty if you wanted to save money you could just get the sterilising tablets.
Some of the MAM ones self sterilise so you don't really need one Smile

I have the tommee tippiee steriliser and I don't rate it at all. Had to go through about 4 before one finally worked properly and the top tray always falls down when you remove the lid!

I use MAM bottles and the perfect prep and don't have a separate steriliser. I sterilise the bottles in the microwave after each use. In fact only have three bottles in use!

When I was combi feeding I used Milton to sterilise my breast pump x

Thank so much everyone :) I will be fully bottle feeding so thought it would be best to have a steriliser rather than using the self steriliser part. Good to know about the tommee tippie steriliser as that was one I was looking at. I see Mam have an electric one. Has anyone used this? Thanks

I only got the TT steriliser because I used TT bottles. If you're having MAM bottles though might as well try the mam electric Sterliser :)

Some of you have said about not bothering with a steriliser, would you still recommend that if you were solely bottle feeding?

Also, if I were only to get one, which is better - the steriliser or the prep machine?

Shankairen · 02/06/2020 13:04

If they self-sterilise in the microwave, don't bother as it only takes 3 minutes so it's much quicker. If you really want one then Mam do some and they have a microwave one. Also heard good reviews about the Tommee Tippee one and its always on sale

Russell19 · 02/06/2020 13:07

As people have said, I thought the mam ones self sterilise in the microwave?

InvisibleToEveryone · 02/06/2020 13:11

If you are thinking about a microwave steriliser , check the internal dimensions of the microwave and the size of the steriliser.

As one of mine didn't fit.

Thatsanicepear · 02/06/2020 13:35

I just sterilise in a pan of boiling water every morning and that's worked really well. I didn't want to spend additional money or take up more space in my tiny kitchen with a specialist steriliser.

Clemmie83 · 02/06/2020 13:40

I thought the mam ones self sterilised in the microwave so no need for a steriliser? That was the main reason I was planning on getting them! Is that not the case? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thatsanicepear · 02/06/2020 13:44

Oh and I really recommend the perfect prep machine. I couldn't be without mine!

SquigglyOne · 02/06/2020 15:05

I use the tommee tippee steriliser and really like it. It does need descaling a lot though 😒

I exclusively bottle feed and definitely think you should get one - would imagine sterilising each bottle individually would be a right faff!

dochas06 · 02/06/2020 15:08

We have an Avant steriliser, we use mam bottles and soothers, so the steriliser never get used

dochas06 · 02/06/2020 15:10

Gets*
@SquigglyOne You can sterilise multiple mam bottles and packs of soothers in the microwave at once, you don’t need to do them individually.

SquigglyOne · 02/06/2020 15:23

Ohhh okay 🙈🙈
In that case you probably need to bother with a steriliser 😂😂

SquigglyOne · 02/06/2020 15:24

DONT need to 😂

Albgo · 02/06/2020 15:34

Tommee Tippee do two sterilisers - one that's electric and one for the microwave. Not sure which one others have said not to get? I have the microwave one and have had no problems at all.
Also another vote for the perfect prep machine - probably my best baby purchase.
I really like Tommee Tippee bottles too.
