Pregnant ladies, are you going out?

I was just wondering if any pregnant ladies are only going out for walks outside or if people are going out to shops?
I am 17 weeks pregnant and want to get some things from Wilkos, but I don't know if I should be going out due to Covid.
Are you going to go to shops when they open mid June?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have been for walks and actually went to wilkos today. It was fine other then the obvious heat and long waiting still kept my distance from people were I could but it really wasn't much of a worry.

I’m 13 weeks and I’ve been going for walks around my local area since the start of lockdown. I haven’t been going to the shops, my husband does that on his own now, but today I went out properly for the first time to a garden centre. I don’t feel like I’ve put myself at risk just by doing that. I won’t be rushing back out to the shops any time soon or anything.

sunnygirl123 · 30/05/2020 15:49

I am going out for walks/cycling and going to the supermarket once a week. I take care whilst I’m in the shop (wear a mask and make sure I keep my distance). Currently 15 weeks. I think I probably will go to the shops when they open in June, mainly to look for baby things

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/05/2020 15:51

17 wks pregnant and have been going to the shops as usual, my LO will also return to nursery next wk

Halloweenbabyy · 30/05/2020 15:51

Yes i have to 🤷🏻‍♀️

NameChange30 · 30/05/2020 15:53

Absolutely. PGP makes it difficult for me to stand and to walk. But I'm still going out as much as I can. My mental health is suffering enough as it is.

Pregnant women are not supposed to shield (not unless you also have one of the health conditions on the shielding list) - we just have to follow social distancing guidelines.

Ohyesohyeah · 30/05/2020 15:53

There are 3 women pregnant who I'm currently working with. All around 20ish weeks. They've chosen to continue working throughout. They're teachers working in classes of key worker children.

SpecialKakapo · 30/05/2020 15:53

I'm 31 weeks (which I think puts me in a slightly higher risk bracket). I'm mainly just going for walks outside. Shops only if really necessary (pharmacy etc) but most just ordering online.

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/05/2020 15:54

16 weeks and I’ve been doing everything within the guidance, so shops, walks etc, and now socially distanced socialising too

QforCucumber · 30/05/2020 15:57

39 weeks here. After an initial 5 weeks from end march of locking myself away and then realising I was worsening my mh doing so i am going out for a walk daily with ds and dh. I will go into supermarket once a week if i need something/cant get a delivery. I'm being cautious but not overly.

walkingchuckydoll · 30/05/2020 15:58

Only on working /school days. Less people around then.

edgeware · 30/05/2020 15:58

I have. I am fine.

PAJJ · 30/05/2020 16:01

34 weeks here and have been social distancing, but this means still going out. I've been going to the 'vulnerable hour' in supermarkets and for walks and to other shops if needed. I think the guidance is more directed to third trimester now, and as said above, even this is social distancing, not shielding.

Pinktruffle · 30/05/2020 16:01

I'm 14 weeks, I'm not going to the shops at all but I am going out for a walk every day. I've been getting a bad back and sore hips so I need to the walking as it gets rid of the pain and is the only excercise I'm getting during pregnancy.

The letter I got from the NHS about being clinically vulnerable says that going out for a walk is fine.

October2020 · 30/05/2020 16:02

Yes - 19 weeks - but keeping my distance and being extra careful about hand washing/hand sanitizer.

Hoping shops will open soon so we can get baby stuff as think I will distance even more in the third trimester as per current guidance.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 30/05/2020 16:03

I'm 32 weeks and only go for a daily hour's walk. Not really prepared to risk it for the sake of going shops if I can get everything online. The shops are heaving here so I'd rather not. Thankfully I've not had a problem getting food delivery slots.

Happy to see family in garden at a distance though. We will continue this way until baby is at least a month old.

Sally7645 · 30/05/2020 16:04

26 weeks and have been shopping regularly, albeit with doing my best to avoid people, taking my own bags and hand gel / washing hands as soon as I get in. I've met with friends (outside) and trying to live life fairly normally with some tweaks

Anotherunimaginativeusername · 30/05/2020 16:04

I'm 32 weeks. I'm doing a weekly supermarket shop at quiet times, when I can't get a click & collect slot. Doing all other shopping online. Going for local strolls with my 4 year old daily. Still working in an NHS office but none of us are patient facing & it's very spread out. Only got 1 more week of work though. Not sending my son back to nursery till after baby arrives though as that seems to be the most likely route for C19 to enter our household.

TinnedPearsForPudding · 30/05/2020 16:07

16 weeks & have been working as a nurse in A&E throughout. Caught covid (almost certainly from my husband) at 11 weeks but other than that, I've been working throughout

Cazzy198 · 30/05/2020 16:10

I'm 41+1 and going for daily walks still. I was advised by my midwife that walking is good for encouraging labour and im desperate for baby to come now.

Social distancing doesnt seem to be a problem around my local park and people seem really respectable so I am not concerned at all. I guess it depends on your level of comfort in your local area and how you are feeling physically.

sel2223 · 30/05/2020 16:58

I'm 29 weeks , WFH and have been doing everything within the guidance.... social distancing, daily walks, going to the shop if/when i need to, attending appointments etc.
I try to go out at quieter times and won't go in a shop if it's really busy so just being sensible about it all.

lettersbyowl · 30/05/2020 17:03

You can go out. Follow the guidelines and adhere carefully to social distancing.

mamasiz · 30/05/2020 17:06

28 weeks now and the only places I’ve been since March are the GP and to hospital. All my shopping is done online. I have terrible asthma and an asthmatic child who I’ve been told to shield by their consultant so I can’t take any unnecessary risks. No judgement re pregnant ladies venturing out - it’s just not appropriate for me right now.

Lavenderpurple · 30/05/2020 17:11

I’m 15 weeks and I’m going out. The greater risk for me is my mental health. I’d started to lose the plot.
I’m going to have to go back to a job soon that I can’t socially distance in as well.

Bienentrinkwasser · 30/05/2020 17:11

I’m 17 weeks, still working as a midwife, going in shops (although DH insists that he should do the big shop and I won’t argue), and DS goes back to nursery on Monday. Life goes on, you just adapt your behaviour .
