Aspirin after recurrent MC

Hi ladies. Looking advice on dosage of aspirin you took when ttc and had a sticky bean. And when to start taking it.

Trying for baby #2 . Baby #1 was born nearly ten years ago so I’ve aged a bit (Now early 30s) and I’ve now had 3 recurrent early losses in a row all before 7 weeks from January. My GP has taken different bloods and I’m awaiting those results. I’ve also been referred to the RMC but with the current pandemic it will be months before I’m seen. Planning to just start a low dose aspirin this cycle. (My mum has clotting issues which I only found out about yesterday so I’m wondering if that’s why I’m losing)

I’m also taking co-q10, folic acid, seven seas trying for a baby, calc fluor and grape fruit juice. I’ve also ordered progesterone cream but will probably take ages to get to me

I've been told by my doctor to take 75mg Asprin daily, I started taking it at 3dpo, im only 6 weeks and 4 days atm but so far so good!

2020wish · 29/05/2020 16:52

@EllieJai44 did he have any reason to advise you take it? As in based on blood test results and previous clotting factors? And from ovulation day then? Thank you for replying

@2020wish I've had 3 previous miscarriages and with this coronavirus going on my appointment to the miscarriage clinic was on hold and we wanted to try again so he did some research and advised trying this, its a very low dose that studies have shown no bad effects from it, and a few days after ovulation

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 29/05/2020 18:02

I've been advised by the rmc that the current recommendation is 150mg instead of 75

I had 2 miscarriages in a row after my first child. First a mmc at 9 weeks then a spontaneous mc at 6 weeks. Started taking 75mg of aspirin daily from the day I found I was pregnant this time 9dpo and had a successful pregnancy. It could just be coincidence but after lots of research I didn’t think it would do any harm.

Also told my midwife and consultant I was taking it and nobody had a problem with it,just told to stop at 37 weeks.

Sevo7 · 29/05/2020 18:14

Should add the miscarriages weren’t straight after my first child was born they were 7 and 8 years after.

2020wish · 29/05/2020 19:35

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings is this in the uk? And did you Start taking that after ovulation?

@EllieJai44 that’s the exact same as me. Currently still bleeding from 3 Mc in a row and everything is on hold so considering just going ahead and taking it after I ovulate

@Sevo7 thanks for replying good to know

I have factor V and take 150mg Asprin every day from BFP until delivery

Shefliesonherownwings · 29/05/2020 21:25

I had a stillbirth last year and am now pregnant again. I saw my consultant last week who put me on 75mg daily. She said to take it at night as it seems to work better then.

2020wish · 29/05/2020 21:49

Thank you both

Oh no so sorry to hear that that’s is awful. I can’t imagine. Where you advised to take it at night from ovulation?

I started taking 75mg of aspirin as advised by my GP. Was then advised by my Consultant and midwife that the guidelines have changed and it’s now 150mg. Been told to dissolve and drink before going to bed. Started at 5weeks pregnant and advised to take until 36weeks, I’m also on Fragmin injections. This is my 8th pregnancy and only one that has reached 19 weeks! Good luck x

chubbyhotchoc · 29/05/2020 21:57

I've had 5 miscarriages and one live birth ( took aspirin with her). Nearly 14 weeks now. I'm on 150mg from ovulation

Whyisitsodifficult · 29/05/2020 22:01

I’ve had 6 miscarriages, after 2 healthy pregnancies, finally managed to have a successful 3rd which I put down to low dose aspirin. Good luck op I know how much it hurts.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 30/05/2020 07:39

Yes in the UK. Was told to take it from bfp.

RunnerGirl123 · 30/05/2020 08:00

I've previously had 2 early miscarriages, my gynae suggested low dose aspirin (plus clexane injections and progesterone pessaries) from BFP. I just so happened to take the aspirin in the evening on the first day and have kept it up since. Currently 13 weeks, furthest I've been so far. Can't say for sure what it was that helped me but it felt like I was doing something to help things.

Laney79 · 30/05/2020 08:07

I had two MMC's before my little boy. I was advised to take 75mg aspirin from BFP. Was also on the following all the time- high dose folic acid, high dose vit D twice a day (my levels weren't optimal according to fertility consultant), b complex, zinc, selenium, vitamin C.

I was also prescribed progesterone after the prism trial showed it may be helpful for women experiencing multiple miscarriages who have bleeding in early pregnancy (it was prescribed as a precaution for me as I was going on holiday and I was scared I'd bleed whilst away, so never needed to use it) - have a look at the tommys site for more info.

My mom also has clotting issues but all my bloods came back negative for any probs. Fingers crossed for you x
