Hey guys just wondering if anyone here has Male factor infertility and used protection after giving birth to an IVF baby, if not did you end up pregnant again? I really don't want to go on the pill after all the hormones of ivf and pregnancy the last 11 months however I'm not ready to get pregnant again while we have a baby that has reflux haha thanks in advance x

Congrats :)
No personal experience, but might be good to talk it through with GP? Depends what type of male factor, ie if he has no sperm at all then ok to go without contraception, if just has low sperm count you may want to think about extra contraception. If you’re exclusively breastfeeding then that can work well for contraception for the first 6 months ( but there are rules to it!), otherwise consider condoms or a copper IUD for a non hormonal method? You may be comfortable with cycle tracking methods but you would need to wait until you’re getting regular periods again for that.
Over time it’ll depend on how much of a disaster it would be for you to get pregnant accidentally.

I'd use condoms to be safe. I had a baby after two years of trying naturally and eventually two rounds of IUI. As soon as I stopped breastfeeding and my period came back I got pregnant that month 😳

Been in the same dilemma, but we were unexplained infertility. The best contraception for us has been sleepless nights! Baby is now 14 months and we're just starting to get stretches of more than two hours' sleep (in a row).

Not male factor but it took 3 rounds of Ivf to have my daughter. I have reduced ovarian function/reserve and poor egg quality.

I haven't used birth control as I have never had a natural pregnancy ..... My DD is now 18 months and I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have also sadly had 2 early MC she my DD was born.

I think the stats show something like 1/3 of couples who have Ivf will go on to have a natural pregnancy after.

Sorry should have said 'i haven't had a natural pregnancy prior to having my daughter' x
