In bits...what’s going on :(

So I have taken 7 tests. All positives. 4 of them being clear blue digital. Doctors told me to come in with a first morning wee so they could confirm. Just had a call back and they said it’s negative. As well as being in bits, my head is totally all over the place Sad

Rainbow1808 · 28/05/2020 11:10

After giving the sample yesterday at the doctors, I had another positive since

Oh no wonder you are in bits? It's very unusual... can you ask the doctor to retest?

Rainbow1808 · 28/05/2020 11:14

Yeah I think I’m going to phone back later and speak to an actual doctor and ask for a blood test, with DC1 they confirmed it with a blood test

Assuming you are not UK, how far along are you? If you are too hydrated , tests are often negative early on but shouldn't matter if you are 4 weeks plus

Rainbow1808 · 28/05/2020 11:19

Yeah I’m the UK, from my dates I’m around 4 weeks

If 7 tests are positive, 4 of which being clearblue digital, you are most certainly pregnant and I would be inclined to think that there has been some error in either the testing or reporting of your urine sample at the gp practice. It is unusual for them to want to confirm it in any case, since it is well recognised that the pregnancy tests on the market have such a high degree of accuracy. Are you in the UK?

popcorndiva · 28/05/2020 11:23

Ok never heard of any doctor in the UK confirming a pregnancy. All the midwives i know accept the home pregnancy tests, say they are just as good as the home ones, the surgery have
Seems a bit of a waste of NHS time and money

If i was you forget the doctor, and refer yourself to the midwife

footprintsintheslow · 28/05/2020 11:25

I thought it was almost impossible to get a false positive with a home test. Why did these want to confirm it do you think?

Puddlelane123 · 28/05/2020 11:25

Just seen you are UK. Ok, call them back, ask for a blood test if they need actual confirmation. From my experience of using hospital pregnancy tests they tend to be of the internet cheapie variety and I would actually be more inclined to trust the clearblue digitals etc that you have used.

notfunnyhaha85 · 28/05/2020 11:28

The tests used by GP's are the internet cheapie strips which aren't as sensitive as FRER or clear blue, so it's possible you may be too early to test positive on them.

Could you go directly to the midwife and book an appointment? As PP have said, its highly unlikely that you're not pregnant after seven positive tests.

GoingBackTo505 · 28/05/2020 11:37

I've never heard of a doctor doing their own test to confirm a pregnancy, they just take your word for it and send you on your way to the midwife. Can you ask for a blood test? Have you got any more tests at home you can do?

AsSurprisedAsYouAre · 28/05/2020 11:41

I was able to refer myself to my local midwife service online. I'm 6+5 today and have had letters confirming my booking in appointment (via phone at 9+4) and ultrasound appointment (local hospital at 12+3) I did FRER, IC, CB and CB digitals and trusted them and my GP hasn't been contacted or involved at all. Absolutely do believe your home tests and see if your area lets you refer directly. Congratulations, don't let their error worry you too much. Flowers x

flissity · 28/05/2020 11:54

I’ve also never had a pregnancy test done by drs! Didn’t think they did it anymore with access to tests in any supermarket.

FilthyforFirth · 28/05/2020 12:29

Why an earth would your gp ask for this? Never heard of this in the UK.

Maggie90 · 28/05/2020 12:34

Some of the tests the GP’s use are quite high sensitivity. I’m a nurse and have come across tests that require a HCG of 50 and 100.

Clear blue are more sensitive. I’d imagine that as you are only four weeks your hcg levels may be too low if they are using low sensitivity tests.

Maggie90 · 28/05/2020 12:35

Sorry not high sensitivity, I meant low.

majesticallyawkward · 28/05/2020 12:49

Is there a reason the gp wanted a test to confirm? None I know of do as if you've had positive home tests they don't need to do their own.

If you've had that many positives don't doubt yourself.

EllieJai44 · 28/05/2020 13:28

The other thing that may have happened is if it shows a faint line, doctors are very quick to not count that, they like to see a bold line, if you got that many positives at home then your are more than likely pregnant!
Maybe you could post a picture of your lines on here for us to see? X

Rainbow1808 · 28/05/2020 13:31

I only took pictures of these 2 x

I wouldnt worry about that at all. my first test at the GP was negative too (I saw a faint line myself but he adamantly dismissed this) all my ones at home were positive. I didnt turn a gp one (they have me one of theirs to use myself at home as I was so upset that it was negative) clearly until I was about 5 weeks.

PeppasMuddyPuddles · 28/05/2020 14:30

Was there a reason they wanted to confirm if like pp have asked?
I would ask for a blood test too, they first 2 are very clear, so is it possible the GP made a mistake?

LividLaughLovely · 28/05/2020 14:30

Can you clarify why you asked your gp to confirm? I’ve never known one to do that. Even my fertility clinic took hpt as enough evidence unless you pay extra for a blood HCG test (E.g. if worried about chemical or ectopic).

Rainbow1808 · 28/05/2020 15:01

I’m not sure why they asked, I did tell them I’ve had 7 positives but still said they needed one

NiceTwin · 28/05/2020 15:07

Why are you doing so many tests?
